Hi folks

Was hoping I could get a bit of advice...

I’ve been shooting sporting for about 8 months now and am just about making the cut for A class. As a bit of a frolic I decided to pick up a second hand trap gun on the cheap (a 725 with the high rib) and have been mucking about with it on DTL but have become seriously hooked on OT. Scores aren’t amazing but I really enjoy it and am improving by trial and error.

I do think however that I’d really benefit from getting someone knowledgeable pointing me in the right direction and helping me get set up right. Finding a coach for sporting is easy - but who can help a relative beginner with OT? Or do I have to learn Italian and move there for a few weeks 😣.

I live in central London.

Any ideas gratefully received!

cheers

There are specialist fast trap coaches in the UK but you’ll have to travel. I can suggest a couple in the North/East Midlands. I don’t know of any in the London area i’m afraid.

Claudio gets amazing results but is very One True Way by all reports. Next closest to you will probably be Nuthampstead. Lots of good coaches there.
Claudio is a FITAV (Italian shooting federation) qualified coach. Their coaching method has achieved notable success in the Olympic Trap discipline.

Yep. That's his One True Way. Brings in gold medals. But it's not the right way for everyone.

That can be said about any coach and their methodology. The only way is to try a lesson to see if you gel with the coach.  If I was have having trouble with my shooting I'd see Claudio, Ian Peel or Joe Neville.  I wouldn't waste my time with anyone else.

You manage to get out a lot to get to that level that quickly? Been shooting just over a year and pretty sure if I was to do a registered I'd be nowhere near that, but I on;y manage a shoot every couple of weeks or so. :)
Yeah I’ve been getting out a couple of times a week, probably getting through 250/300 in a session on average. Mainly Bisley, Churchill and Dartford. For some reason am intrigued by OT now. First time round could hardly hit any which makes the challenge all the more interesting. I find the repetition quite meditative.
