I suspect they are made for Cogswell by someone else, probably an Italian mass produced item (or even Turkish?) so treat it as just that. If you really like it and it fits great then OK, just don't pay too much!
I would stick with a s/h Browning/Miroku/Beretta if you are looking at sun £1K value. They will be easier to live with and you will always get a good return if you sell and easy to fix if something breaks.
No English maker makes their own guns in the UK under about £12K that I know of.
