I will need to move my gun safe to remove an adjacent stud wall and then plaster.  I am planning to move the safe to another room temporarily. .

Should I contact my local firearms officer first? or now that I have been surveyed I can just move it to another safe and secure location.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Seems to vary county by country, Esssex wanted to visit, but friends in MET and Gloucs found their Fao want interested..

Store the guns at the local RFD for a week or two while works are on?

If your safe is not bolted down and the house is likely to be visited by tradesmen I can see the fao getting a little jittery.

Call your firearms licensing department and ask them, they'll give you an answer you can rely on. Talk on here is worth nothing if there's a problem.

At the end of the day your security arrangements haven't changed, all you're doing is relocating your cabinet.

Now, depending on what county you're in and depending on your previous dealings with the FEO and or/manager you'll know how arsy they are or how wrongly they make up their own version of HO Guidelines.

So...if you think they will throw their teddies out the pram and threaten you with revocation for no reason even though your security hasn't changed *cough* Nottinghamshire *cough*, or whether they're going to be reasonable is something you have to take into account.

Personally, unbolt cabinet from wall, bolt to new wall (even if temporary) and forget about it until your next renewal.

Thanks for all the advice and the leaflet.   I have found both my FEO's very helpful.  Mind you I did have to chase for delivery of my certificate, the FEO unfortunately died between the first visit and handing over the cert!

In balance I had better give them a call, just to be sure.

Thank you
