Does anyone remember a trap shooter (and actor) called Derek Partridge? I have no idea if he's still alive or not, I shot with him  many years ago and I believe he was involved in the introduction of Kemen guns into the UK. Derek was/is a real gentleman and helped me out on several occaisions, I seem to remember that he shot OT for England at one time. Anyone remember him or know if he's still around? Mind you he must be in his late seveties or early eighties by now !!!!

I bingled him - he seems to be still alive and yes was quite accomplished in the shooting world - late 70s.

Cheers Sian! Nice to know that at least some of the people who helped me out in the old days are still alive!

Did a lot of them give up the will to live then Les after trying to help improve your shooting?

I used to see him a bit around the Prado  and Miramar gun clubs in SoCal but that was years ago, early 90's.  He was pimping Kemens here in the US too at that time.  He was up here in NorCal seems like maybe a couple yrs ago, with a way zoot Perazzi, and we had a nice chat catching me up on mutual acquaintances that I hadn't seen for yrs n yrs.   IIRC he lives in Las Vegas but makes it down to Phoenix for the OT there.  Anyway, he's around.

Yeah more than likely mate!!!! What sparked it all off was hearing that Steve Halfacre had died, I had known him for god only knows how many years. I then got to thinking about other people that I hadn't seen or heard of for a long time, quite a few it seems are no longer with us, others have got too old to shoot, others seem to have vanished! I guess it's all part of getting old mate!

There are some nasty fires on right now for sure, Nicola - and the recent climate has not helped.  I just returned from Arizona and took a alternate route to avoid the folks working on the one that killed 19 of the firefighters near Prescott.  Very very few fires ever get to populated areas like the one did in Colorado a few weeks ago.  We have a few grass fires, mostly grasslands around here, usually started by the moron/ciggie crowd, but no woods to carry a REAL fire for a few miles.

About the old shooter guys - I realized last year that the three who had helped me along the most were all gone - and for some time too.  The real curse of old age is having folks you care for become just memories.  Makes you realize too that your own "history" is banging right there at the zero level of meaningfulness(?).  But then even the greatest of the great are remembered, if at all, only on the most superficial levels.

So today's our Independence Day.  If that George guy had been a bit more market oriented we might all still be speaking the same language   :king:

have a day

Charlie
