Hey,

How does everyone clean the outside of their barrels?

I wipe mine down with a silicone cloth but it seems to leave a "smear" as it were.

Any suggestions?

Microfibre cloth soaked in car engine oil and surplus allowed to drip off over a few days. I then keep said cloth in a poly bag and just use it to wipe barrels and action after each clean. I find most of the modern oils too fine and rub off too easily. I just replace the cloth each year. I also have a small spray can of 3 in 1 in the car, if it looks like rain, a quick spray down the outside of the barrels before I start to shoot. Oh and the car oil is the old 20/50, which is no longer any use in the car engine as they are all synthetic oils now. waste not ...........etc.

Leigia,  napier or beretta spray or even a a few drops of 3 in1 will do. Wipe with cloth . Used the same  cloth for years so it's now well soaked. Paper towel to take off any that's  accidentally onto  the wood.

No streaks or smears.

The exact same system for me although I use Castrol 10-40 semi synthetic, well Perazzi's are high performance guns :) , keeps the barrels coated with a nice film of engine oil which coats them nicely. I also wear a pair of white cotton gloves, well they used to be white now grey, when cleaning my gun stops problems with finger prints !! :)
