Hi all,

Not sure where to post this so I assumed this would be the right place. I have previously shot a lot of sporting competing in many competitions but now I'm looking to get into an Olympic discipline such as double trap.

Does anyone know of any good coaches in the southeast kent area? Or any good grounds?

Also I am considering buying a trap gun to motivate me in the discipline- any good guns? I have looked at the ceaser guerini summit trap

Or krieghoff k80 trap

Sorry for rambling but in desperate need of knowledge!

Thank you

Natt

Pm me your full details including your Cpsa number and email address and I will send you the info you needed.

If you want to shoot DT well, then Martin Barker at Nuthampstead shooting ground in Hertfordshire is your man. Martin has worked with the best of them including Peter Wilson. Any trap gun with a raised/high rib is the perfect tool for this job but Martin would advise you well. Good luck.

Slight drift but what the hell.

I watched some DT at bev on Sunday and i have some questions.

1 - I thought they had introduced a delay but i could not detect any.

2 - How many traps are used and what do you get as there was obviously different pairs being thrown.

3 - I know all disciplines look easy ish when your stood behind but what makes this more difficult than double rise ?

If you fancy a bit of a drive (not much though, Hampshire), we are fortunate enough to have a former Olympic Champion on here, who knows a bit about DT; Richard Faulds.

You could go and see him or Tanya at Owls Lodge, and they also happen to be Guerini dealers, which might make it worth your while too.

Thank you very much I'll check him out!

Got to agree, Martin at Nutty is your Man. He's now our GB Double Trap coach and will start you right.

You will be made most welcome at any of the DT shoots and I hope to see you.

Thank you, I think that settles it I'm sure I'll be heading your way! I take it your in the GB squad? I would love to know the ins and outs as to how to get in or train for it as it's something I desperately want to do!

Thanks again Natt

1-The delay was on the old rules, they are instant again now.
2- Three traps are used, the middle three in an Olympic Trench, One trap is set higher than the other two.
You get Random pairs from combinations off these three traps in a different sequence for each shooter, like OT.
3- Double Rise pairs come from the same location and out of a raised DTL bunker? So elevation is different and if you get the wide pair in DT they come out 2.2 meters apart. I think they are faster as well?
The simpler answer is, it just is harder!

That sounds great, the only problem is my cars a bit of a mess at the moment so long distances really aren't its thing ! But if I can make my way down there I definitely will, sounds extremely beneficial.

Thanks Natt

Yes I'm in GB squad, We are not down south for competition until May at Southern Counties, but some of the lads will be training at Nuthamstead, chat to Martin and just come along to whatever you can and you will be welcomed and encouraged!

And check out Jake's seamless shooting tops on his link.
