My 1/2 f choke at 15 yds is no bigger than a standard clay, 3/4 a midi......skeet is the size of a football.

Nope, if I miss it's me at fault and the muzzle not in the right place, if the muzzle is not in the right place won't matter which choke you have in.

Now thats my view and not many will agree so I am glad for you, also glad if you are are one of those that has a use for the barrel selector on a Beretta.

Chiefy
.

I am with Chiefy on this one.

3/4 and full for me for any discipline unless it is game, then I am full and full.

Put it in the right place it breaks, put it in the wrong place and you still miss. The in between is the creation of a lot of chippy shots......come on.......man up people........!!

3? I know of the optima/hp and the HP Plus, in the DT11 etc...what is the third, do you mean Mobil?
1) Optima, 2) Optima Plus, 3) Optima HP.
Optima Plus uses the same threading as Mobil, but the constriction would be wrong because Opti bores are larger. Allegedly it's possible to screw a Mobil choke into a Plus barrel but it strikes me as a crazy thing to do.

shooting tight chokes is all well and good if you are competent enough to use it and hit big scores. If however you are at the earlier stages in your career I wouldnt personally reccomend it. Each to their own.

I have Optima in mine. My extended Brileys, non ported weigh 25g each, my standard flush fit weigh 19g, my Mullers weigh 12g.

I don't have the extended Beretta chokes here to check, but go on 50g for the pair, against 24 for Mullers.

If you look at things like Rhinos, they weigh about 60g each.
I'm not normally this anal but the weight will vary with choke constriction. An F would be heavier than a Cyl.

And I've just weighed an Optima HP Extended ½ choke and it measures 33gm. Almost 3X the weight of a Muller.

Next....

Good I am still glad for you all, I shoot 3/4.

Probably got used to it when walking round farms with a Beretta semi-auto, chokes are not something I bother about much, when we all had flush chokes you never knew what was in you gun from one week to the next unless you looked at the wee marks.

So lets stick a Rhino choke in the Top barrel to help muzzle flip(since its heavier),and a Muller ported in the bottom, size 8 shell in the bottom barrel and 7.5 shell in the top and off you go,,,, shout pull.

Next stand do it all over again, miss 3 birds and blame it on the Briley as its not 1/2 it's 3/8 and you should have used the Optima plus extended.

Next stand more fussing about.

That's right. That was U1I weighed, 6 thou. I shouldn't think that a U4 would be much over 20g.

To remind the others, this was not really a "which constriction to use" comment, but related to the muzzle heavyness of the DT11 that Hamster mentioned.

Clearly, 40 or 50 extra grammes of choke, will have an effect on this.

There must be a fixation with chokes on here, this started out as a thread about the DT11 and we are back to a discussion about chokes.

Go pattern your gun or stick1/2,1/2 in and be done.

Now about the DT11...........?

I got a Perazzi MX8 for just over £3.5K last year. With adjustable comb. Balance perfect ........just wrong pitch...... so I also used washers to play around with fit ......easy to sort out.....then when happy I lobbed off just short of a inch.....works great. You can find them out there if you look hard enough!!!

But............then you find something like Evo Comp!!!!!

(Well it would be silly not to.............!!!.....all that high tech at your fingertips.......I cannot wait.....plus the recoil reduction......bring it on).

So point is......every gun is 'ok' but when it is fitted to you it is soooooooo much better.......and when there is new tech.....even better!!!!

Darkside.......I am going to nick pish as well if you do not mind :)

Hi Nicola, are you referring o recoil reduction through a better fit as thy ont have recoil reducers fitted within Them yet but believe ts on the crds for 2014.

Why would anybody think it's somehow worthy of bragging that they never use the barrel selector?

Weird sh*te...... :p

No I haven't bought one, but managed to fetch one off the racks today for a look see. It had 30" barrels but although it does seem a lot of gun unfortunately I felt it barrel heavy which is odd given all the reviews seem to rave about its balance!

The build quality is fantastic as you'd expect, the fore end looks and feels right, the mounted sight picture is very positive but personally I did not like the grip much, too thick with a large palm swell  , having said that the trigger finger ended up perfectly positioned, better than my own gun in fact.

I'm certain they shoot well but I would sooner shoot one side by side with a used DT10 if I were ever wanting to buy one as I feel that to dial out the barrel heaviness may well make to the whole gun a bit on the chubby side.
Did manage to shoot the dt11 yesterday as for recoil it was little different then my dt10 and to be honest prob a little more so! oddly enough andy riches shot it and said it was heavier on recoil then his 687eell must admit the build is really nice but not enough to make me part with that sort of money considering you can buy a mint dt10 with very little use for less then £2500 now Me thinks for that money your creeping into good perazzi territory.

Stock bolt is in a different place.....hence a 28 grm feels like a 24 grm.......they also have internal balancer device....loads of extra kit that can be put on depending on your needs. Suggest if you need info you are best to contact them direct. I cannot walk you through something that I have not got yet or have never shot yet :D

I think you would be surpised.... That is the target I take my big chokes out and put an open one in. Makes a noticable difference through mine, but yours could be different. my spread at 15 yards is about the size of my fist, bar the odd straggler. Queue jokes re fisting birds.....
Quite agree, have a go on the pattern plate and all will become clear.

I've spoken to them at length about it due to looking fr ways to reduce recoil due to back neck etc. they never mentioned the stock bolt Antony felt it reduced recoil due to better fit.
