You wouldn't enjoy it Will - only 50 a day.... and those take most of the day.

I think we should start a much needed counselling group for the "wish I was there" club.

Session 1: Jealousy and how to deal with it..

Session 2: Regret and how best to rationalise..
+1

I wish i was there...and i am a trappie....!! How much counselling will that cost

I think I could force myself!

What's not to like apart from the sand getting everywhere with no sea close at hand to dive into and wash it off!

I now don't like anyone who has gone   but I am not jealous much really no no I am not.

Maybe the counselling session would be more needed for those miserable sods who moan about everything.  Now, that would be useful. ;)

No...the counselling is for all of us who knew and said it would be a great shoot from the beginning...yet who could not go.

Thanks for your concern but I'm perfectly fine actually.

Delighted that I was able to get my lad there to take part and while I'm not a clay shooter, it would have been nice to have been there to see my lad take part.

You may have taken that wrongly Dunc. The concern was all for me! :)

Ha-ha!  missed yer smilie.

I know, a couple of mates are totally kicking themselves today.  Young Ben is currently writing me a 'massive email' so I'm dying to see what will be in that.........

We'll for me I'm not here for the money just the whole experience and it definitely been one of those and that's just the practice !

Never seen a clay thrown from what seemed half mile away to drop 50 yards in front of you pure class.

Shot in a squad with a lad from U S something Kidd jr was great shot .

For those at home saying would be ok but need to shoot more each day we'll let me tell you in this heat 50 is all you would want !

Off for a meal with the crown prince .

Part of a message from my lad.........

"So today began with my big cousin picking me up from the hotel at 8 and we arrived at the ground at about 8:15/8:20 and it wasn't hard to find. The organiser has bought 5 MILES of 50 foot flags to direct people to the shoot.

The ground itself was very quiet when I arrived, however it allowed me to wander around at my own leisure checking out all the facilities. It’s all semi-permanent, and quite reminiscent of a better game fair kind of set up in terms of the tents they have up etc. It is very well laid out though and there is indeed free breakfast (with freshly squeezed juices like lemon, orange, passion fruit and watermelon) and lunch each day.

There are 8 layouts and the shooting is pure FITASC with 2 referees on each stand, one to button and score and 1 to keep an eye on cheating and gun mount etc.

There are 3/4 hoops on each layout and it is new style FITASC. Each hoop has 4/5 different targets and you shoot each once, or twice in some cases so the variation in targets couldn't be any higher. So out of 25 birds per layout we will be shooting at 20 or so DIFFERENT targets!

There are so many traps!! The targets are VERY, VERY tough, really difficult stuff, lots of edge on clays, a range of battues and rabbits. I was shooting in a group of 4 and came second on both layouts by scoring a 15 and then a 14 out of 25!!  Many of the top guys reckon it could be won on a 150-160 out of 200 ie like a 75/80 out of 100! Possibly less because they have said they are winding up the traps and moving hoops back for Sunday!

Picking up the gun couldn't be easier, just have to present my token and they grab my gun, takes about 30 seconds! They are storing them all in 3 big shipping containers.

Weather was very hot today, there is plenty of water and Lucozade equivalent drinks in ice boxes at every hoop. It is all very well set up.

Got the opening ceremony tonight at some random hotel! Starts at 8 so getting there early."

Seems to be enjoying himself...........

Thanks Steve, he's met up with plenty of people including Ben H, his coach and is looking forward to the big bash tonight.  He eats like an -  er -  20 yr old lad so there may not be much grub left at the end!!!

Looking at the pics dunc he'll eat well!

That is not the final squadding - apaprently they are all changing for the main event...

It sounds as though it will be a tough shoot, and so it should be .

Take a look at some of the photographs, it is going to be difficult to pick up some of those distant clays against the heat haze and dust plus distance. So I feel sure there will be lots of 'what ifs and if only's'.

They have already said they are using black clay Salop. They are perfect against sand. Now if they were blaze.....Oooooh Lordy Lordy there would be wailing
