Hope the price rise is due to Eley making their shells cleaner, used some today and barrel was filthy and almost impossible to clean!

Funny, I used Olympics for a long while and thought they were quite clean compared to some fiocchi samples i tried. Been on kent velocity for a thousand or so and my barrels are cleaner after a shoot than before I started :D

Were they "firsts" by any chance?

They certainly were "firsts" and also now lasts :D

May have to give kent velocity a try. My mate was using Gamebore White Golds made me sick how clean his barrels were compared to mine!! At least the sun was shining

Olympics were a great shell but when they hit 174 a thou I couldnt take any more! had some 24g firsts and half of them just went pop and left the wad in the barrel

Kents are a fine shell at 153 per thou :)

And here's me, all these years thinking that it was how many clays are broken or how many pigeons/pheasant/etc are killed cleanly. It seems that it's how clean your barrels are! Does it make a difference? (and who judges)

If, like me you only clean your gun if it gets wet or like some never at all, you won't notice that the barrels are dirty and if you are one of those who is paranoid about cleaning it every time it comes out of the cabinet, well it justifies you cleaning it then.

Judge carts on how thumpy they feel to you and what price you pay for them after that it's all in your head. But dirty barrels - please!

Mr Potter

Sorry Mr Potter, having spent 14 years in the Army, a clean gun is quite important to me. The reality is it doesn't make any difference to how we shoot, so each to their own.

I'm not a fan of how the Eleys (first) perform and the dirty barrels just make it worse!

Filthy barrels to me is a sign of unburnt propellant, and I like a nice clean burn. With you on thumpy, price and would like to throw pattern/breaks into the mix. No point in a soft, cheap shell if it patterns badly :)

Went into Just Cartridges last week to get some Superbs as they are local to my work. Gulp, when they wanted £214 for 1000.

Thought I would bite the bullet and try something else. Got a 1000 RC2 in plas wad for £178.

Shot Weston Wood Sunday and posted an 82. For that price I think I will stick with em for a bit.

They were the only thing in JC's that had good value on that day.

Sorry to say that those RC2's were dear.

Here is a one off, anyone who contacts Terry Hale and buys cartridges I will collect and deliver FOC on Saturday to Ian Coley's. All you have to do is phone Terry, pay by card and ask Terry to let me know to collect them for you. They will be at Coley's Saturday morning.

The only sign of unburnt powder is a few flakes and even that makes no difference either way. If Superbs really have jumped by that amount I'll have to start looking at Fiocchi Blues or RC2 etc. Really hoping Scotch Brite and Fairy Liquid can get together and produce a proper clean shell.

I was paying £192 but checked with gun shop yesterday and they've gone up to £200 :frown: , so ordered a thousand Fiocchi FBlue. I think these will be around £20-£25 less. I shot a slab of the Blacks which were good and people seem to really like the FBlue so will have to see.

Shot the Fiocchi Blue& Fiocchi Black last time out, expected to miss a few due to different point of impact etc.

These are good you will not be dissapointed with the performance and the price is good for a premium shell with 5% antimony.......
