As usual the same people try and act like they know something when they actually don’t.

I’ve shot nearly every choke ever made and all have huge differences. Rhino and extreme are very centre dense so appear to hit harder. Briley are much more even spread over the board.

high end Guns like Krieghoff and blaser now outsource there choke to aftermarket systems because that’s what they specialise in.

all In all yes there’s a difference
So basically put the lead in the right place and any make of choke is as good as the others.they all break clays.

Neil Winston has tested a lot. This is a rabbit hole. Enjoyable though

In the USA. My personal take. First I shoot fixed 23 and 13 in my Krieghoff Sporter.  I had Briley back bore to 740 and recut the constriction. It destroys clays.

My new to me Kolar (learning this gun) has chokes. Two brands, Extreme and Comp n Choke ported Titanium. The ports are a pita to clean. The Extreme has a great Choke key. The Extremes are like works of art in execution.

A lot of the guys I shoot with, shoot Mullers. They are slightly cheaper, light (aluminum) black and look pretty cool.

I have the extremes in 3/8 and 1/2 choke for a Browning xs 30", my reasons for getting them were to lengthen the gun slightly but at the same time lighten the front end. I can't say I ever patterned them but they give very impressive breaks and seem to be easy to clean after use.

So in the end those of us who think they know but dont actually something cannot come up with a technical answer as to why choke made by A is bretter than those made by B or C.but also it seems that even those that claim to know cant supply any technical information on why this might be. just the same as the rest of us a opinion based on no fact.

Yes but just look at them. By golly they must be fantastic. 🤣

What makes one choke "better" than another? Doesn't the pattern density depend more on the cartridge?  Harder lead generally giving a more centre dense pattern than softer lead. The choke can really only affect the size of the pattern for a certain cartridge. A 1/4 choke with one cartridge may pattern similar to a 3/8 with a different cartridge. As far as I can see a choke can only be "better" than another if all Brand X 1/4 chokes patterns consistently the same for a given cartridge, and all Brand Y 1/4 chokes pattern differently, due to looser manufacturing tolerances. The rest of the "better" judgement can only come from personal preference on looks.

Aside from the lamentably departed Mr. Winston you have NEVER seen and will NEVER see a head to head objective and analytical comparison of screw-in choke tubes.  Anyone is perfectly free to obsess and spend countless $ on anything they might care too.  I admire those people for their contributions to the struggling economies in the western world.  Misguided as they obviously are.

The really good news associated with that is for me the availability of factory Perazzi tubes freed up by the aftermarket purchases.  I've accumulated a full compliment of tubes for each of my tubed Perazzis at absolutely bargain prices.  So a heartfelt thanks to all those fools persons who helped me with that.

I have a Cesar geurini summit ascent for 3 years. The chokes supplied with this gun ,to me are serious.  Lm and m puts clays into balls of smoke. Certainly hits them harder than any other  multi choke gun I have owned( have owned a few )
