I was asked the other day if I would be prepared to shoot trap at a ground that only shoots fibres!!! Well I tried some fibres at DTL/ABT many moons ago, they were dirty and the kills were not too good even through full choke. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a good fibre trap load, if so what is it and have you actually used it?

Clever Mirage T2 Fibre 28g £190/k

Not shot trap with them, not have shot edge on going away 'trap type' clays with them, good shells and not thumpy like most fibre shells I've shot before.

I've had a couple of rounds of UT and ABT with some Cheddite Universal Trap 28gm #7.5 (English 7) fibrewads to see what they were like.  I thought they were OK and the kills were good.  I bought a thousand to use when decoying pigeons and they're pretty good for that too.

Whilst i'm not one for scouring the bins I can honestly say i've never seen anyone use a fibre wadded shell to shoot DTL. I've no doubt the same applies for the other trap disciplines.

There's really no need, firstly no trap ground demands fibre wads (and if they did I fancy they'd quickly go out of business) and secondly, there's a huge range of plastic wadded shells to choose from.

It's a bit of no brainer really.

Must be very few trap layouts on agri/grazing land... Where was it? At least it would be a level playing field....

Probably just glorified straw bailer as you say not many serious trap shooters would attend.

I shoot in a small club league 5 grounds 3 of which are fibre only it is sponsored by a local gun shop and you can only use use eley cartridges, I use eley blue fibres they kick a bit but are fairly clean and no difference in scores, I have used hull pro fibre for sporting and rate them highly

just to add there are a couple of England team members who attend the dtl shoots and they are several including myself in cpsa AA class, yes they are straw bailers and targets are variable to say the least.
