Hi everyone

my shotgun license has finally arrived in the post, I started the process in mid January, last Monday I got a phone call from the firearms officer to come and visit me, so that day I ordered the gun cabinet which arrived on the Wednesday, Thursday morning I had it fitted and that afternoon he came to see me, had a chat for about 30 minutes checked the cabinet all was fine. Looking forward to Saturday, I'm off out to spend a few quid at my local gun shop !

Hi Holianl

Im in Tamworth, so I come under West Midlands and Staffordshire police, the firearms officer came and seen me last Thursday  he told me it was normally 8-10 weeks in our neck of the woods, and after the interview he told me I should receive my license between 7-10 days, I also made sure I had the gun cabinet fitted for when he came which meant he didn't need to come back,  so all in all after seeing him it's taken a week to arrive.

Hi Mr Bluecity.

Congrat's on the licence, you certainly got it a lot quicker than I did.

I see you're thinking of going to Countryman of Derby. I was there last week to pickup my gun, it's a great shop but the guy who I dealt with said their prices were going up very soon. Their Cartridges seemed cheap (from my limited experience), I wish I'd bought more than 250 as they were 40 quid/1000 cheaper than justcartridges.

You're not too far from me. If you're heading south and looking for someone to shoot with, give me a shout. Throckmorton is my local but I do intend to venture further.

Thats good news indeed Mr Bluecity and a very short wait indeed. Now enjoy.

Hi and welcome, not that far away from me,when you visit countryman at derby don't go on a Wednesday like because they are closed.

How did you get on on Monday Kev?
Fantastic couple of hours but i went on my own so i now realised i rushed around all excited missing most that were launched emptying box after box of carts when i should of stopped to smell the Roses now and then .

Kept to the novice stands but still managed £90 between clays & carts :)

I bloody love this Gun :clover:

Good Lad. How many cartridges did you go through.

Ummmmmm 125

I only took 150 and they do disappear rather quick  :)

181 clays @ 30p a pop

So I ventured out this morning on my own to one of my local shooting clubs, never been there before so wasn't to sure what to expect, my old man decided he fancied a ride out so he came along with me just to watch. Anyway this is the first time shooting on my own, new gun, new everything, so I didn't want to cock up and make a fool of myself, after a cup of tea I cracked on, paid for 50 sporting birds over 8 stands. Glad my Dad came because I needed someone to press the buttons to release the clays! Took about an hour to get round, pleased with how I did, quite windy conditions 32 out of 50, really pleased with the shotgun I've chosen also the cartridges, must remember to turn the safety off before I shout pull, did it twice, oh well, really looking forward to my next outing.

Where did you go, Mr bluecity?

I think you're not too far away from me so if you want a shooting buddy at the weekend, send me a message. I also went on my first solo shoot this weekend but didn't do quite as well as you but I think it must have been windier where I am!!

Doing well depends on the targets that are presented, A shoot down the road can be twice as hard that's sporting... !  So has a beginner you do not know if the shoot was hard or soft its only with experience you know if  it was a tough shoot.

I'll see what the high gun got when it's posted on their website but I can't imagine it was over 80 in the wind we had today.

Hi Worcestershire

i ended up going to lea marston, no thrills kind of place, nice friendly atmosphere with some challenging stands, there's quite a few shooting grounds near to where I live so I'm hoping to get about, think I'm going to try Doveridge next, that's only 25 mins drive away for me, felt a little nervous venturing out alone, but once I cracked on, I loved it.
