Tight is always good, fblack in 8.5 is great for sporting and anything inside 25yards is vaporised

They are definitely loud. I also find them a bit thumpy.

People think they are "tight" but if you pattern them you find that they have a dense centre (pointlessly dense I personally feel) then there is a poor open pattern round the outside. So, yes, people like them because they often make impressive dust, because the centre of the pattern is like you are shooting with increased choke, but then the outer part of the pattern is not good. I just can't agree it's an intelligent use of pellets!

But hey, they come in a lovely box and if that and the dense core help your head..

Seems to be good things said all round about these cartridges will try them when I have shot the remaining velocities I have left.

Will

I am confused surely a dense centre equates to tight pattern ?

Same thing ?

Terminology perhaps, but what I found is that roughly 70% are in a tight clump (imagine a 24g load through full choke) surrounded by an uneven outer area of well spread out pellets. If you take a cartridge I admire, such as Clever T3, they are tight, but the whole pattern is even. Slightly denser in the centre, but the outer area is still very usable. Not patchy.

It's good to hear people noticing a difference having had so many threads recently were many people have said a shell is a shell blah blah.

I rest my case mi lud.
Well that is an interesting statement. I don't think I would ever say a shell is a shell is a shell. What I would say is that just because someone gives an opinion or say they think something about a particular make of cartridge... that does not make what they are saying factual. Why only yesterday I gave the opinion that Clever T2's were a great cartridge... that is an opinion not a fact. If anybody on this site can come up with the proven data that they took any two brands of cartridge and tested them blindly over a significant number of tests and proved they got significantly better scores over those tests with one of the two... I would accept that as a proven fact... not just an opinion.

I rest my case.

tried a thousand seem to make thud more than a bang...really don't know what the fuss is about.

wasn't particularly impressed with the breaks.

back to rc2's and CSP comps

I haven't patterned these FBlacks but going by the breaks from other people as well as my own they probably do have a centre concentration to them. Shot a full round of practice today with Top1's and they do break everything at all ranges within my capability but rarely vaporise at any range or any orientation.

Re-shot a good R/L fast low quartering white bird using FBlacks and the breaks were instantly different as in betterer and awesomer and fasterer.

With that sort of Grammer you should move into marketing but without doubt just as i find them devamastating when you centre the target at all ranges and although Will is correct about the pattern testing i guess if you are shooting well it certainly gives one confidence.

Hi all, after some f blacks 8.5, Clayshootingrus no longer stock them, other than Justcartridges do you know who else stocks them in Bucks or Oxon? I am in Thame.

Thank you, Nick.
