Had a round of OT today at a new shooting ground I was visiting. I felt very nervous being at a new venue and not knowing anybody anyway I had a round of OT and managed 14 but I always had the feeling I was thinking all the time rather than Just breaking the clays. I also had a 14 at UT again I felt I was nervous and thinking about my shot too much. I must say I found the OT a discipline I could warm to much preferred that to the UT. I hope to do better though when I become more familiar with the setup and people. It was difficult driving away thinking I had shot my last three rounds at my club ABT 20,21 and 22 but I do realise that its a new venue and the background is entirely different to the usual.

Over 50% at a new discipline and at a strange ground is ok. Next time you go there you will do better as you now have a marker to beat.

Yes Andy I just have to get comfortable which will let me concentrate more. I always felt I was worrying about the speed and which way the clay was going to go and not doing my usual, which is just waiting to see the clay and moving my gun and shooting. I did think the OT was great though, could be because you know you are shooting an Olympic discipline. Need to get more practice though think my gun hold was too low.

Low gun hold at ot is better than too high IMO as wet need to see it early. Do not be intimidated by the speed you have more time than you think if you see it correctly. You must commit to the shot and not be intimidated otherwise its curtains :)

OT is hard to shoot, no doubt about that! It is however VERY addictive, then just as you think you are starting to master it......BANG! It jumps up and bites you in the back side like no other discipline can!
