No, this is not an article about Nicola, but just a report on a thrilling first time ever attempt at FSP.

This was the second of John Dyson's FSP comps at Dartford, but our first. Wasn't too sure what to expect as we have only really even started shooting ESP competitively over the past couple of months, having shot Skeet almost exclusively over the past five years.

But what a great day Mrs GG and I had. A really nice squad of people we had never met before, but were extremely friendly and helpful, especially to Pam.

More than once during the day there were calls from the squad of "what a nice pair Pam". Now I may be a bit naive, but I was sure they were talking about the clays she had just busted. If not, then it would certainly have still made her smile anyway  :p

Liked the format very much, and the challenging targets. We had started off setting ourselves what we considered to be a fair first time goal of 50% for me and 30% for Pam, but I ended up with a 68 and Pam with a 49 so we both left really happy, and we now have a benchmark for us to improve upon.

Already booked ourselves on for the next one on Sunday 3rd February  -  can't wait  :D

If anybody is reading this and has never tried FSP, then I thoroughly recommend it.

There are very few ESP / Fitasc registered shoots in Kent but this clashes with Greenfields 1st Sunday  :frown:  otherwise I'd be doing it regularly. Methinks they ought to re-think their dates so more people can enter both shoots on different Sundays.

Hammy - the FSP shoots run over three days, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.... so maybe an opportunity to shoot on the Saturday?

These shoots have become extremely popular very quickly and do get heavily booked for all three days.

If you can shoot it either of the three days then I would suggest you get booked in asap by calling John Dyson direct - details are on Dartford's web site.

Currently dates have been issued for both February and March, but as it has been so popular I am sure that more dates will be added.

As a rule Friday and Saturdays are work days for me, realistically it has to be a mad dash over for a late Sunday entry of say 12.30 !

Hi Hamster -  although these shoots are held at Dartford, they are fully controlled by John Dyson.

John is very approachable to contact by telephone so I'm sure if you call him he would do his best to assist you shooting the event. It would also give you the opportunity to tell him about the Greenfields clash, which he may be unaware of ???
