Just fortified myself with a nap on the sofa, not in the car between parcours eh Gav and feel up to writing about my day.
Only the second time I have shot FITASC and again really enjoyed it. Started 1st in our squad on the "pond" parcour and missed all 4 singles out, too much thinking about it and fretting about my gun hold and feet and forgot to actually shoot the damn things. Got a couple on the pairs and this settled me down. Peg 2 presented us with a midi that must have been 70yrds out, it looked like a mini! none of our squad managed to connect with this one. Then up the platform for some zippy stuff below the feet and the real long midi which being 40 odd yrds closer was a tad easier. Finished up here with 11.
On to the "compact" this I felt was the easier of the 4. A nice slow l-r rabbit on peg 1, one over the left shoulder from behind a zippy low r-l pink and a decent crow. Had settled down a bit by now fortified by the world famous bakewell tart and managed 17 here.
"Old Tower" was next with a brutal l-r edge on quartering away and one hell of a r-l off the tower. 1 or 2 floaty gimmes here but the rest was really hard worked for. Steve had already warned me about the A bird on peg 3, a mighty r-l crosser off the tower which you saw before it went behind a tree then shot after the tree. "you will never miss it in front" was the advice "give it what you think then a bit more for luck" Missed it on the singles but gave it a shed load and crashed the back edge off it. Not sure how far in feet as I see my leeed at the muzzle and it was a good 8 inches in front (to give an idea, I see just under an inch, station 4 skeet  ) Highlight of my day nailing that bad boy to end on 13 here.
"The Swamp" next. A nice mix off battues and low zippy stuff, with a simo pair of l-r battues on peg 2 and a rafael pair of longish crows. Came off here with a 14.
Finished up with a 55 which was 4 better than my target of the other time i shot fitasc. Felt I was 5 or 6 short from not settling well on the first 2 stands and another few light from getting hold points and visual pick ups wrong but that will get better the more I shoot it and stop having to think what to shoot and when.
Also shooting in our squad was 14/15 yr old chap called Henry, shooting fitasc for the first time and he scored a 60. Looked very composed and more than competent. Certainly one to look out for in the future
