Some time back there was a looooong discussion about flinching and IIRC there was mention of an actual study of some kind.  Anybody got a lead to a link for that?

thanks

Charlie

Sorry but of no help to your question. Flinching what is it exactly. It seems to be a "big" thing within some communities. My understanding is that it is a delay of the trigger finger on taking the shot,  or downright refusal to take the shot. I assume it's a brain thing? But an exact explanation what flinching is, would be much appreciated.

Lars.

PS Wonko let me know if I should delete this, and create it in a separate thread.

I remember it Charlie but no idea were it is.

Freeze, flinch, yips, whatever. Looking at the list of sponsors of Phil Coley's research I should get them to sponsor my work. I certainly had more success AFAIK. And my methods stand up to peer review.

I cured myself

The referenced articles above don't seem to contain any secrets.  I notice too that the email for Mr. Coley is dead so no way to find out if the flinching study ever came to anything.  If the anxiety article tells me anything is is that I should take a pill and feel better.  I already knew that

I wrote a paper on this subject and gave it free of charge to Phil Coley , who then sold his knowledge to various outlets. I won't be doing that again.

I have cured many shots of flinching , yips & staggers, call it what you like .

I believe  ehb 102 is very good at what she does and did correspond with her at one point , maybe she can help you Charlie ?

I believe Phil Coley's research came to nought , like so many of his projects .

Thanks, Peter.

Charlie, I'm happy to talk if you want to get in touch via DM. There are a lot of people who do what I do, I was just the first to apply it to trigger freeze. It's a structured facilitative method and I am a facilitator who uses these structured methods with people to put them back in control of their own minds. It is roughly a talking therapy though so there is work to do on the part of the client.

Elizabeth couldn't do anything for me , but I had half a mind to seek help.

Actually, I have no problems at all.  I was going to post the thing at trapshooters since someone there asked if there had ever been a "real" study and I thot of the thread here.

For 25yrs I shot a release/pull trigger not to cure a flinch but simply because I felt it was a superior method.  Still do.  BUT that greatly reduces the pool of toys unless some expenditures are made that I really don't care to do.  Sooooo a bit over a year ago when I got the TSK I thot then that it would be a good time and a good thing to go back to pull/pull triggers.  Which I did.  The re-adjustment period was not all that long and my late in life evolution of pre-shot routine saw me thru that with no probs.  Of course the bar is pretty low but I'm shooting at least as well now as I was with the release.

Hint for the flinchers - - do like the big guys say and focus on the process.  Works for me.

On the other hand - @ehb102 was very helpful with a specific issue I had related to my shooting.

I'd highly recommend a conversation with Liz if you have any issues in this field, at the very least she will have wisdom but she could also really help.

One visit and the man went up a letter class. Coincidence? ;-)

Peter is making a joke. I don't think we have ever met.
