The rain held off for a trip to Four Counties today (review coming for main site later tonight), for 100 ESP Reg including the Berkshire County Champs.

Some lovely stands - including a pair of sim woodcocks that needed some quick work, a couple of nice rabbit stands with o/r crossers that required attention and a final stand that caught me right out with a fast battue like bird followed by a long, slow incomer. I really liked the sim driven stand, and the high crossers l/r from the tower.

Had a great squad - with Bob_P, Woo_P and Jon Skeet - also saw TipTop, Mr and Mrs Fuz on the way round - as well as Chris Childerhouse who was still going strong when we left - PP Abel was HG on 91 at that point.

I carded a joint PB of 74ex100 which I was pleased with, but also annoyed at a couple of misses that would have put me right in contention.

Chris Childerhouse shot a blinding 97 to take High Gun and the Berkshire Champion title!

You made a name for yourself too - Berkshire C Class winner! Well done!

Second stop of my double header. Fortified by Wylye fruitcake we rocked up to find the carpark heaving, saw team Shootclay on stand 9 and had a wander over for a quick chat. Nice looking pair of report floaty incomers so we booked on and started there. Dropped 3 of the first bird  not a good start.

Onwards round a good course I never really got my teeth into it. Some deceptive stuff out there that i didnt really get pace or distance right, nothing really distant but after Wylye I had got it in my head that everything needs 2 barn doors of leed :( finally got my first straight of the day on the simo driven, and liked the quartering, incoming rabbit followed by quartering away low green bird.

65 for me to salvage something of the day and 37 for Mrs Fuz

Great day out with great company as always. Enjoyed the course despite my constant muttering and grumbling over missing the easy ones. Left a load of dollies out there, and would have wanted at least another 5-6 on my score. Despite that, ended on a 77 in the end, was joint leader in C when we left, will have to wait and see if it stood up.

I thought Jon Skeet was shooting the best I've seen from him in some time, not entirely supported by his final score, think the later stands took a bigger toll. But good stuff just the same.

Was good to see Fuz and Tobi on the way round. Well done to Matt for taking the Berkshire class win.

I really enjoyed the shoot today.

Some great targets and things are starting to come together for me. I was only 1,1 and 2 away on the first 3 stands so started well but then came across some testing birds and some that I just couldn't hit like the driven. After missing the first 2 pairs I changed my stance to shoot them as crossers and smashed the next pair into dust despite the laughs from behind, not sure why but I may have peppered someone with an empty shell, anyway; kills on the card.

The company was excellent as normal and the walk round the ground went smoothly and the post shoot burger was truly excellent :)

I finished on 64ex100 which ties with my PB at ESP but in reality it should have been 7273, more lessons learnt :)

Jon.

good shooting chaps, i was going to try to get down there today but opted for the prestwood shoot as i didnt fancy the drive

hit my pb a highly satisfying 81

cheers Bob

nothing too challenging to be fair but I shot with an accomplished shot and she scored a 77 so im pretty chuffed,

just tried to reset after every pair as I have a habit of thinking " oh, not five pairs of these clays"

then i lose focus/interest. Where as in Ftasc i think "blimey look at that, cant wait to have a crack at that target"

managed to shoot a couple of stands with a very nice gamescene DT10 sporter, which like any gun has its detractors but i loved it

Echo the comments. Pretty good shoot overall. I was kicking myself for missing easy ones, I should have had a PB but carded a 70. Ifs and buts don't cut it! Don't miss the easy ones!

Thanks to Brian and Sue for putting on a good shoot.
