Hi,

Is there any particular amount of shooting that anyone would recommend to do over a weekend to get better at Sporting .e.g 100-200 birds?

I'm trying to get out as much as possible and feel like I'm not making any progress after a few good weeks and I'm only getting to small local shoots of perhaps 50 birds at the weekend.

Or would I be better off having a few training sessions with a coach and doing 1 shoot each weekend? If so can anyone recommend a coach in the Lincoln area?

I'm not a top shot so can't really comment, but I believe those that are tend to have one thing in common....they put a lot of lead down their barrels.

Go see a coach.

No amount of flinging lead down the range is going to make the blindest bit of difference unless you know what you are doing wrong!

Apart from that a good coach can boost your confidence very easily.

As Nimbus said.

Its not how much practice you do, but how you practice that counts.

I go with the get some coaching because if you are anything like me when you do miss you have no idea why. A good coach will be able to tell you not only where you missed but also why you missed the target. The number of times I have been told where I missed the target by watching shooters... but not one of them could tell me why I was in front/behind above or below the target.

Does anyone know a good coach in the Lincoln area?
How far will you travel? Grimsthorpe is home of the Russells, both of whom are very good coaches. Ed Solomons sometimes coaches from Grimsthorpe.

Look at the grounds near you and see who coaches from there. Orston and Nottingham & District are within an hour of Lincoln, and they probably have some good resident coaches.

I don't mind travelling for a decent session. I've shot at Grimsthorpe a few times. Will look into Orston too. Thank you.
