Sorry for this weird format of four videos. Tried to do four short videos so they could upload easily to this site. Didn’t work well, so now uploaded to you tube. Should have been one video, with more detail. Lesson learned..  watch in order if you must watch..

Obviously it’s mainly aimed at beginners, or people looking to start cleaning their guns  😆

Very helpful Will thank you, but one thing I've been led to believe is that you shouldn't put the forend down like that, as they have a tendency to roll over and off the bench

My bench isn’t on a slope and I have a soft mat on the floor next to the bench. 😆 I saved a few engine pistons years ago by a soft floor mat. Pistons do roll.

Just catching it will cause the roll try it and see, no slope required 😉

Mate... THAT is a lovely first face static image on the first video before you press play! :) And nice to see the engineer in you has the classic wheel clock on the wall, good work.

Genuinely though, good stuff and I've learnt a few little tricks that I can add to my cleaning. Top man, thanks.

(no checking my bang stick the next time we hook up!! ;) )

Good idea having videos on forum. Do you not remove chokes during every clean? Why is oil your preference on ejectors instead of very light coating of grease?

Apologies, loads of things I meant to mention and didn’t.  Bloody amateur. 😂

No I only remove chokes about every 10 shoots. (That might be 20 shoots..). I just check they haven’t come loose and if they have, then I will remove as there is just a chance some muck will have built up in the gap. It’s another reason I don’t change chokes at a shoot, I can’t bring myself to put a choke in unless everything is clean. So, if I was a choke changer, I would be removing and cleaning every time.

The grease or oil discussion is always there. Personally I feel oil is cleaner (doesn’t trap dirt) and is fine where there is no pressure between surfaces, like ejectors. Grease may be a better option as a lasting lubricant if you don’t intend to clean the gun very often, but conversely grease does trap muck so should be replaced regularly. (Ejectors aren’t subject to that much dirt though). The only thing that is wrong is no lubrication.
