Napier, Clenzoil, Legia, arcoil, froglube, Bisley, 009, Shetland pony snot and me grans Guiness gravy! so many products to choose from so what's the best thing out there to clean ya gun???

I use the Napier spray, and Napier oil. Very convenient and works a treat (on my regularly cleaned gun). There may be cleverer stuff out there but I have never felt the need to explore it!

Preferably Clenzoil, because it really is good, people say it is dear, I disagree. What price cleanliness, reliability and trouble free shooting??

But frankly if you get your barrel clean it is relatively easy to keep it clean with anything from WD40 to Paraffin.

Napier & Legia spray are probably the most popular dedicated gun cleaning products simply because they are readily available from most gunshops.

Third for clenzoil.... Available on the shop on the site.

Hi, I use Froglube on my Beretta semi auto, I have found it to be excellent and after you use it a few times it makes the gun easier to clean from then on.

It is available from Xpert Tactical in the uk.

Kinda realised they both need cleaning but my point is do certain cleaners work better on O/U than semi autos? Or visa versa

Point taken, I use a gas auto and for softening the crud that collects in the gas system I use WD40 and have done for years,it works.

Otherwise I can see no difference between the two.

I have read all the shock horror stories, from across the pond particularly, about WD40 dissolving the solder or whatever that holds the rib on and about it drying out and leaving a sticky deposit that gums up the works. If you clean your gun often enough it don't get a chance to go sticky,if it actually does and I have not had a rib drop off yet !

I do not use it as a lubricant,I use car engine oil,if it's good enough for a modern car engine it's good enough for a gun.

Vic.

I like Froglube as it comes in 2 types, a non toxic liquid and a paste which can be used for cleaning and as a lube. When i first started using it i cleaned the parts in the usual way with Froglube instaed of my normal cleaner, i then warmed all of the gun parts on the radiator and applied a thin layer of the paste to the parts then let it cool and use it as the lubricant. Now the carbon is easier to remove from the gas pison and anywhere where carbon sticks to, i do the same with my comp n choke and pure gold chokes and they clean up much easier now.

It was designed by a former Navy seal for military weapons but it should work on all guns.
