Hi,

How often do you geezers clean your guns?

If you were shoooting only several days apart, would you leave it until you knew you werent gonna be shooting for a bit?

Cheers,

G x

Every time you use it. Don't leave it until next time. Even if you get it out of the cabinet for some dry mounting you will put your sweaty paws on it, so wipe it down with your (very lightly) oiled rag before you out it back.

"Rust never sleeps!!" :)

Only when it rains....it gets the full monty.

Shoot clean cartridges then all it needs is Mrs Fluffy swiped up it...couple of back and forwards and job done.

I am not advocating this!

Spoke to someone who shall remain nameless on Sunday who has had a Browning XS Elite 12 Bore O/U.  The gun looks good though the varnished wood would not suit some.  Some of the gold is wearing off the engraving which is bound to happen in 7 years hard use.

He proudly proclaimed that he had never ever cleaned it or had it serviced and that he could no longer could get the chokes out.

How can he be proud of that!

He can be a pretty good shot when he wants to be so it surprised me.

I guess it takes all sorts!

There is a AAA sporting shooter local to me who has an old 682 sprayed mat black with two rusted in chokes which probably has never been cleaned in its life.

Me, as soon as possible if its been rained on, of course.

Otherwise, when I think I ought to! About once a month I reckon, which works out at 200-250 rounds or so.

More often than I clean the car anyway, which has been twice this year, about 30k miles

Thank you to your missus for sending me this....

Oh Ian......you didn't did you.....

Clean mine every time I use them (twice weekly). I also wipe down sith a silicone cloth afterwards and then place in cabinet with VP90 sachet to avoid rust as much as possible!
