I am an almost complete newcomer to the sport having had one lesson on sporting clays with my wife which I loved. (so did she) I have been a keen rabbitter (using a rifle) for about 5 years and have held an FAC for some time. I am expecting to receive an SGC any day now and will be equipping myself witrh an OU 12 bore ASAP with a view to getting into the clay shooting. I live in Falmouth and i am in touch with a couple of local clay shooters who have promised me an introduction to the local scene. i am looking forward to deepening my understanding of the sport through participating in this forum.

Welcome mate!I have taken people round sporting clays courses (when I did some work at EJ Churchill). The beginners who found most difficulty were those that had used rifles. It is WORSE than never having shot at all. A bit like taking up tennis after training at squash. Forget everything you ever learned with a rifle and you will be fine! Shoot where it is headed. Arrange a collision. This is more a bat and ball game than a rifle game. Best wishes,CSC3

Welcome aboard Arquebus (an early gun I think?) - really jope you enjoy your stay on the forum and participating in our sometimes spirited debates! Any questions, please let us know - I hope that we'll get to meet you at one of our meet-ups.

Big welcome - hope your wife is getting an SGC as well/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif Quite a few couples that shoot together here, my wife is very keen, and it's something that they can compete on equal terms with us boys. Bob & Wendy
