Just back and relaxing after a decent day at Hickstead SG for their monthly FITASC Sporting.

Great squad, MaddMatt, Chubby, Mhib, ShaunMK38 and Brown Bear + myself...

As ever, great variety of targets - proving that shooters can be beaten by combinations, angles and speeds rather then pure distance... that's not to say we didn't have some decent gaps on a few birds...  Promatic layout was steady, with a little pop up looper that caught a few out as we moved round the pegs, as well as a rabbit which cost me a couple of points as it disappeared over a bank.

Haywards Guns had a couple of bigger tests, a battue that only just cleared the treeline giving an eye test, followed by a tiny window to shoot it in... very clever target. A long floaty incomer above a tree and a cheeky curler which became a teal from Peg 2 and caught me out for sure.

KWG was to the left of the field - with a couple of very tricky, low and flat birds which died in the wind and needed quick shooting... as well as big crosser and a quick battue from Peg 2 and 3 - as well as another enormous crow coming in over a tree which bounced around on the wind.

Final layout for us was the Gamebore layout - with a couple of tricky incomers a quick, high teal - and a massive crossing midi from peg 1 which nearly everyone missed (except Chubby), until a few of us started to figure out the line as we moved round to Peg3 - was very pleased to straight the last peg after a wobble on Peg1 which left me chasing a score.

So, I finished pretty happy on 75 (21, 17, 20, 17) and was pleased to grind out a few straight pegs along the way... I think I was leading D-Class when I left, but there were a couple of cards out there...

All in All - a great day, only enhanced by my provision of an excellent picnic for my squad - who were all, as usual, fantastic company - despite the mud!

Well.... No I didn't have any clusters today, I think I only missed one complete pair... A couple of singles, but a lot better. I changed something in my pre shot, which may have helped... Just slowing me down a little bit, and I also tried something different with doubles. Watching the shooter in front shooting the first of his pairs, and then NOT looking at the second... So I can keep the mental picture of pair one in my head.

Will keep trying some different things until it clicks,

pleasing  to hear it was a decent shoot! It was very muddy last week too. I will endeavour to get to the Fsp next time!

Great write up Matt had a great day with you guys brilliant company even though I shot like a complete numpty getting myself in a right pickle at times trying to remember the basic concept of Fitasc hopefully it gave you all something to chuckle about

You shot really well today as it was a stiff setup but more importantly it was the simple stuff you let get away nailing some really tough birds even some impressive stonking range midis at the final layout all of which I missed

Building a big score comes with time as its a concentration issue as opposed to target acquisition by this time next year your going to be in A class I will put money on that.

Hopefully catch up soon maybe on a sporting layout. :spiteful:

I've written about my shooting at Hickstead today elsewhere on ShootClay but I just wanted to say well shot Matt. I think your 20 on KWG was very impressive. I only got my act together on the last peg on that layout. I thought there was a good mix of targets. I tended to miss the same targets in singles and doubles so mainly due to miss-reading the target I suppose. I haven't shot FITASC for about a year so not disappointed by my 71.
I think I'd prefer sand to mud though

Looking at the scores in Dubai I am not sure I would swap the mud for sand!

Well shot!   :)   :)   :)

But I hasten to add should any member feel the recent flooding may return then get in contact with Matt as his sandbagging ability is formidable... (only joking Matt ) will collect my coaching royalties later.
