30 minute wait on one stand ( up in the corner, 10 I think ) 'sheer weight of traffic' rather than breakdowns!

Blimey, the sun comes out and everyone pitches up! Pleasant day, got a bit cooler after 15:00 but for January it was great. A PB of 78x100! Not nearly enough to get challenge the C class leaders as I think the shoot may have been a bit soft but well pleased with my score on the first anniversary of taking up this game.

Onward and upward!

got there at 11:00 took 1 1/2 hrs to do 3 stands started at the very top stand (rabbit) and a non looping looper!!  the looper had no birds galore and rarely threw the same target there was another stand which had the same but I've forgot which one!!

took me 3 stands to get going and find some rhythm I hit 74/100 which for a poor start i'd take!

I did a bit better. Got there about 10.20am and finished at 1pm. Mind you I did hop between stands to try and speed things up. Thought it was a bit soft, especially with two "following" pairs I.e. One trap with ref pressing button as quickly as poss! But hey the sun was shining and the sky was blue and we were out shooting!

:) stand 12 was 'interesting' if you waited for the rabbit to get past the big tree it started to bounce. I got all 3 of them by taking them early, saw a few good shots have the target leap over their shot! :)

My nemesis was the overhead mini, could not read it at all! Managed the crosser but the mini just laughed at me.

There was a bit of waiting around the weather definitely played its part. First reg score in over six months with a new gun i have only shot 10 times and a PB of 81. Happy chappy.

make sure you're seeing the whole clay with a slight bit of gap over your bead, Was a tw*t because it never flew on the same line!

Did this today as it was the nearest shoot. I don't do Horne more than a few times per year. Actually I don't score that highly there as it is all fiddly quick edge on stuff and overleading is all too easy. Weirdly it's quite good practice for fiddly stuff. Not their best targets today, with nothing needing more than a 18" of lead. Actually I found it a heavy concentration shoot.

It did queue badly at stand 12 and I was there 30 mins at 11am. The stand by the top thicket (9) had a trap in trouble and the scorer offered to let people shoot the one remaining target, so I enlightened him. He had no idea what CPSA was etc..

I do look forward to Weston next week..

They seemed to change trappers there lots today, Unfortunately for me I got the same trapper 3 times it was ok she only missed 4 hits!! I really do wish they'd call on each bird!

There was a girl scorer on the stand of sim teal and high incomer. I was held waiting to shoot while two guys sorted out some scores discrepancy with her. I wondered if they were playing the game with her.. But then I made ten balls of dust and she gave me 9! Luckily I checked the card and mentioned it. Shooters behind backed me up. Clearly her glasses prescription wasn't right..

Very difficult that. Calling kill / lost. Hit /miss.

Their not all useless school kids tho.

At Gunsite today the gun went off prematurely on a rabbit, it was obvious, and got the pair again, young school girl.

Sometimes the trigger does not set properly slightest touch and it's off.

I'd say it was the same person!! I was having a mare then I changed my grip on the fore end and it sorted it out..

Same stand!!

To be fair I smoked 6

missed the 7th bird shot the 8th and killed the 7th with the same shot I thought my chant of "thank god (or maybe f*ck) for that" would have given it away that both got killed! smoked the last 2, luckily there were some lads who watched and backed me that all got broke!

My mate and I always try to see what their writing on the cards when either of us are in shooting.

Especially if we see hear other shooters discussing their issues.

I see that young Ronny Green won this today on 96. I saw him on his first stand miss two easy targets and though "oh he is off-form today". WRONG!

It felt a soft shoot, but the continuous fiddly nature actually pushed scores a bit lower than normal there.

why have they put Ronnie 1st in 3 classes, you can only win 1 surly!!

Well it was my first ever registered shoot and not nearly as scary as I thought. Enjoyed all of the stands. Made a complete hash of a couple scoring 2s but then had a few really good scores with 8s.

Strangely I straighted the stand with mini but my nemesis was the right to left battue that you only saw late.

All in all an enjoyable first registered shoot.

I enjoyed it today. First foray into registered sporting. Got there early with SibaldiB. Nice setup, friendly folk. Couple of "well shot"'s when I did ok, but no jeering when I choked on the last white clay on stand 1!

Would have been nice to bump in to some of you...obviously saw Evoracer there...finished on an 81, felt I probably should have had an 85...but made some silly mistakes.

Will be back

I think that may have been me and Nimbus behind you today . You'll have to teach us that trick shot sometime !

thanks for clarifying the hit!!!! not that I know how it happened there was easily 2 1/2 ft between the clays!!!

I must have seen all of you at some point we have to have Shootclay stamped on our heads. I was easy to spot i was the only one with a PFS stock.
