I went prepared to endure the cold and wasn't dissapointed. 3 degrees and plenty of bitter wind tested the clothing.
Me and a mate headed down the hill to start; where there was a left turn to two stands. I was very pleased to hit 9 ex 10 on the first stand, a pair of crossers, one from each direction. Then straight the next stand and one away on the third; hitting the fast looper that a lot were struggling with. These were where I shot my best all day. Only on the last few stands, where it eased up a bit did I get sloppy; getting tense about a good score, which gave me the opposite result than intended... A good 4,5 away near the end that deserved to be hit; so I finished on an 83. Sounds OK, but dissapointing given my start. I reckon that A class win will be 86/87.
So, how was the shoot in my opinion? Pretty good; on the firm side (given the cold and wind wasn't easing things for the shooters). If you have a hatred of edge-on clays; then you may not have loved today; but certainly nothing was unshootable. 11 stands I think.
Universal critiscism of one stand though. A pair of low sim driven; which were tight on time to shoot and unless you dusted them, the clays or shatter peppered the shooter, scorer and waiting crowd.
Chris Broomfield was leading on 94 when I left, which was very good. Mickey Rouse is a particular Hornet specialist and was still out there.. I doubt more than five or so will break 90 today.
Kevin, if you are looking in, can you post some scores?
Cheers
