Was booked in to shoot this yesterday, and despite the windy conditions, headed over to Hornet for a 9.45 start. Hornet can be breezy at the best of times, so yesterday was something special, and we had some fun with some targets!

There was already a 96ex100 on the board, and a 90 and 91 from the Saturday - so it was clear that this was shootable.  Squadded up and headed out onto the Club House layout - nicely done with some quick targets that had a limited window of opportunity as you moved onto pegs 2 and 3.

Second layout for us was 'stubble field' - with some tricky quartering targets and a nice high looper, couple of incomers on Peg 3 caused some issue especially when one appeared to be a rocket and caught a few out on our squad.   Third layout was 'Pen' with a usual mix of high crossers and a tricky overhead on Peg 3.

Final layout was two towers with a couple of great wind affected targets - a big curling crosser that became a 'kill or get hit' target in some gusts of wind, much hilarity as this was missed at 5 yards out by some.   A nice teal off the tower become an interesting bird as you moved to peg 3.

Overall - my score is not printable, for the first three layouts I was shooting high on a lot of things - four out of four decent shots on my squad can't be wrong, so a suggested change was made to my adj. comb which seemed to reap dividends straight away and I had a half decent score on the final parcours of the day.

Hornet has had some nice improvements - a new clubhouse extension is very welcome, with a bit of music and another wood burner to keep the place warm - it was well appreciated on a blustery day like yesterday.  I thought the targets were very good, despite the wind (nice one Kev) - it was all there to be shot with something for everyone.  Nice shoot, and I'll definitely be back for as much of the series as I can.

Very enjoyable shoot!

Started off slow on the Pen layout, dropping a couple after dodgy mounts etc but got into it in the end finishing on a 17.

Went onto the two towers layout as the wind picked up, starting up on a platform - Nice! Enjoyed shooting down on some targets for a change, and some nice steady targets down by the brook. Managed to get my act together for a 23 Happy only dropping a couple of targets as they bounced in the wind!

Went onto the Clubhouse layout feeling a bit better but looking at the scores looked like a tough layout. Walked onto the last peg three away and fell apart - another 17, Made worst by watching Mat Hance nail all 25!

After the wind settling we went to the Stubble field layout - great fun! plenty fast 1/4 ing away stuff and a slow flying rabbit which hurt a couple of people!

Got my act back together to put in a 22 to finish the day on a high.

Plenty of nice targets - strangly not a huge amount affected by the wind? Maybe we would say different if we had seen the targets the day before.

Good to see Phil Easeman bck on form winning on a 96? - top bombing!

I'll hopefully be back for the next one..... :spiteful:

Very enjoyable shoot, got caught in the rain and wind for two layouts out of four so got away pretty lightly all in all.

Really good mix of targets and a friendly squad of talented shooters. At the beginning of the day I started poorly and the afternoon I didn't fair much better. With the exception of the clubhouse parcour on which I shot well, for me.

I had the pleasure of shooting alongside J.Moore which made up for my inconsistent performance. A fantastic style, very minimal gun movement , he shot a lot of the targets while in my eyes were still a blur.

Thanks to Kevin and staff and refs for a good day out. There is always next time!
