The mother who died in a tragic quad bike accident on Sunday (July 19) has been named locally as the popular community figure Joyce Lewis.
Joyce, 60, who ran the Balcombe Game Shop for many years and is wife of Johnny Lewis, former Gamekeeper for the Balcombe Estate, died in the accident in land near Keeper’s Cottage, Danehill at about 8pm on Sunday (July 19).
Sussex Police said a four-wheel-drive farm buggy overturned, trapping a woman beneath it.
The Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance attended but sadly Joyce died at the scene.
