Looking on the CPSA site seems attendance has fallen off the cliff since it's had to switch too fibre, anyone been , it'll be a shame if it folds?

I think their last registered shoot wasn't listed in the CPSA magazine. That may have had something to do with it.

I have shot Kegworth three time over the past 18 months. It is without doubt one of the hardest grounds I shoot at and noticeably so - my average there is 66 otherwise 77 (perhaps 75 at the time). I'm not saying that's a factor in my not going - this year I am part of a regular squad and Kegworth is not in their rotation - but it might be for some. My daughter has shot there once - 40 - and there was simply not enough to help her pick up her confidence part way round. She doesn't want to go back.
The fibre thing doesn't bother me.
I will go back this year - find a day when it is just me - and go with a fresh & open mind. When I last shot it (8/4/23) I was 59 and there were 5 AAAs and 3 AAs out of 74 so just 10% making the turnout average. The third place was 87 and the eighth on 77. In my view, that's quite a lot of missed clays which could, dare I suggest, have been easier. The course can't always be set for the high gun (which was 95 and second 90).
Finally - It's always a nice place to shoot.

Also there is practice on Saturdays the day before reg shoots now. Meaning reg targets have been practiced by all and sundry. Meaning I won't go because its not a fair and level playing field. Simples. The fibre ruling bothers me not. Other crap like the above do. Hence lots of grounds now get my cash very very infrequently.
And it can all be stopped by someone(????) applying rules.

What, they practise the Sunday comp targets on the Saturday ?
They have practise where I shoot at Southdown on sporting on the Saturday, But definately not the Sunday reg comp targets.

My understanding was that they had practice of the previous comps targets and that they were changed for the following day/comp.
Honesburie certainly do that though I have not checked recently.

So let's get this out there. Do you guys really think that ,at let's say 4pm on a Saturday afternoon, after being at the ground all day that someone involved with ANY shooting ground is going out to completely reset a 100 bird shoot for the following day.??? Nope.... Remember Kegworth is more akin to a straw bailer than a proper permanent ground. (Nowt wrong with that) . It's not a shooting ground in between the reg shoots . It's a field.

Southtown and Kegworth are world's apart . As far as I know Kegworth does not have the capability to have a practice round set and another set of different targets , on different traps already set for the next day???

And it's very interesting to watch various folks fb videos of them practicing in the week. And then you go to the same ground for a reg shoot on the weekend. Very very interesting........ especially when said shooters put in a massive score and then go prancing around on fb crowing about how great they are.
Anyway. I think I'm out. I'm probably down grading my guns and gear . Reg shoots are not enjoyable any more. For various reasons. But most of it blatantly against the rules. Off to straw bailers with a b525 goes I.

Agree with you 100%, no shooting ground is going to set up new targets the evening before a comp. Where it was said they have AAA shooters saying it was too easy I thought it was a main ground with main ground facilities. Ie. Enough traps and area to set up forthcoming targets and leave old targets side by side till the day before comp day.

I couldn't agree more. I'm honouring the three reg shoots I've already committed to then after that it's mainly practice and sim days for me.
A multitude of reasons but the main one is that it HAS to be fun. It hasn't been too many times. I go to my nearest reg ground knowing fine well that some have shot the targets the day before. I know AAA/AA lads who routinely bin their cards. What's the point of a master sheet?! Other's who throw a shoot to get it below 10% when they've had a bad day.
Plas wads being used at fibre shoots, pet refs, bullying refs....I could go on!
I could enter open shoots and be beaten by someone who's entered 4+ times and bought the win but that doesn't appeal either!

You guys must be shooting at the wrong grounds, I don't recognise this behaviour at shoots in East Anglia, maybe a lack of decent choice where you are, but if correct then I understand your frustration

Yes - I would (personally) have no objection to the previous comps targets to remain on etc. But I am still learning.
I can't comment on exactly what the grounds do only the gist & intention. Not saying it's right or works all the time.
I've not had that much experience of 'cheating' but I'm often in a squad I know and we know we are only cheating ourselves.
I don't do this for the money or the kudos.

Looks like John at Kegworth is trying his best. selling fibre cartridges at £6 a box. But unfortunately I think it's another ground destined to close.
I have no issue with fibre at all but registered fibre only grounds are effectively knackered when the lead ban comes in. There's no alternative that isn't silly money. ie.Eco wads.
The majority of shooters will use steel loads at grounds that allow plastic.
