But you enjoy living in a society with half a million cameras watching your every move.

No thanks.  I'll take armed police and an armed citizenry over a surveillance state.
With over 30,000 gun deaths a year in America, I prefer our cctv camera's to what you have...

Surely you know that whatever it is the Americans have the best, doesn't matter what it is.

its always the best  :frown:

NOT!

Most of which are criminal on criminal and concentrated in a few cities with the strictest gun laws in the country.  Win-Win.

In the meantime, I won't have to run, hide, and tell or throw a bread basket if someone jumps out of a van with a knife and screaming aloha snackbar.  A CZ P-01 with 14 rounds of jacketed hollow point 9x19 is about 1.5 seconds away under my shirt.  Always.

Enjoy being watched wherever you go and whatever you do.  I'm sure George Orwell is rolling in his grave.

What is not mentioned there is that the most of the deaths are gang related or suicides.  On the pure numbers there are 60,000+ drug overdose deaths/year and at least that number of auto-related deaths.  And there are tens of thousands of deaths each year due to hospital/doctor mistakes.  BFD

We ALL have the same problem - homicidal pseudo-religious fanatics with tiny brains.  World wide social/economic problems abound and insane and pathologically deranged have perceived motive and opportunity.  And there is no political will to make the difficult choices.  Anywhere.

good luck

Theresa May cut the number of Hobby Bobbies and pen pushers. Crime levels were falling so it was a good saving. After all what good is a Hobby Bobby against an armed fanatic? Corbyn and his sidekick Mcdonnel have advocated the closure of MI5 and the police armed response teams. With Dianne (gorrilla) Abbot in charge of this countrys security things will get rapidly worse.

My step son works in the armed response team,I have heard of the potential horrors that they have foiled. We always knew some of these loonies would get through eventually,it was inevitable. But the government and MI5 and the police have been doing a sterling job of protecting us for years.

Corbyn? Dianne Abbot? They will let more radicals in. They will not allow deportation of radicals. They are terrorist supporters.

Not to be too judgmental but a sh*t condescending attitude will accomplish less than a rational contribution.

Willful ignorance and dedicated assholiness are hallmarks of the current US government but there is no need for  citizens who actually have a brain and fall into the category of "human" to take that as a model of conduct.

personally, I have no problem with being watched\filmed as I am not up to no good. The only people concerned about being watched are those who are committing crimes. You can keep your crazy gun laws. Did you read my post..... 1.4m people killed as a result of gun deaths in the US between 1968 and 2011 compared to 1.2m deaths in US conflicts from the War of independence to Iraq... astonishing!

think he is talking about sobrepeusta....

Take away suicides and inter gang homicides and the number left is a very small percentage.
The U.S. is ranked 4th out of 34 developed nations in regards to the incidence of homicides committed with a firearm, according to Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) data. Mexico, Turkey, Estonia are ranked ahead of the U.S. in incidence of homicides. A U.S. male aged 15–24 is 70 times more likely to be killed with a gun than their counterpart in the eight (G-8) largest industrialized nations in the world (United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Canada, Italy, Russia)

I had a very interesting conversation with a hotel worker in las Vegas when I was on holiday last year. I don't know how we got to it but the subject of guns was raised. I said I was surprised that in some states at least, I can stand to be corrected on this, guns can be carried on your person concealed whereas in others you have to have the firearm displayed for people to see, he was in the concealed carrying group. I was amazed to be told that unless specifically stated on a sign of some sort guns can be taken quite legally into any establishment other than a government building or office. This conversation took place on the run up to the US election so this guy was worried about H Clinton being elected as he thought gun controls would be on her agenda. Anyway the most, for me at least, amazing thing he had to say was that the American constitution allowed citizens to have the right to have firearms to protect themselves, should the need arise, from an oppressive and unjust government. I don't know if that is general thinking amongst the everyday gun carrying American or if it was just his take on it.

As to counter terrorism no amount of gun tot'n police are going to stop religious nutters or just general nutters doing wrong. Also like to say I know some very devout Muslims and they do not identify with the sort of people that carried out these recent acts of terrorism... which is not actually surprising as, in common with other faiths, there is no place for this sort of thing in their faith.

Amazing.......

I guess Sam Adams was right all this time

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom,
go home from us in peace.  We ask not your counsels or your arms.  Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.
May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Sobrepuesta same old sh*t again trying to stir it up just for your own pleasure.

Same crap everywhere you post, trying to create conflict and derail threads.

Is there ever gonna be a time when you come up with something constructive instead of being totally full of sh*t.

Crawl back under the rock you came from with all the like minded Amoeba

I agree what's the worst that can happen - they catch me picking my  nose when I think no-one's looking.

Back on what happened at London Bridge on Saturday, did anyone read about the football fan that got stabbed 8 times?  When they came into the restaurant he was in shouting Islam over and over again, he stood up, shouted "F**k you, I'm Millwall" and laid into them with his fists.

He hasn't lived up to the Millwall fans chant of "no-one likes us, we don't care".  Everyone likes him now.
