Guys,

I've located a Mk38 sporter over here in Australia. Gun has 30" tubes, fixed chokes and what the gunshop believes is 1/2-Full chokes. Serial number dates the gun as a 1996 model. At the time, was such a beast made as currently I can only find reference to 1/4-1/2 choked models. Where can you check choke markings on a Miroku as most over here have muzzle insert type choke guages.

Cheers...

APPARENT SHOTGUN BARREL CHOKE MARKINGS (Browning and Miroku)

+ FC (full choke)
++ IC (improved cylinder)
++- IM (improved modified)
SS SK (skeet)
+- M (modified)
CYL (cylinder)

unfortunately, I cant remember where they are stamped. I believe that its on the side of the block.

hope this helps somewhat.

:good:

To the best of my knowledge on fixed choke guns they used a star  *  marking system as follows :-

*  =  Full Choke

** =  3/4 Choke

*** =  1/2 Choke (Mod)

**** = 1/4 Choke (Imp Cyl)

SK = Skeet or Cylinder.

I am sure that someone will happen along to correct me though !

I had a 1996 MK 38 sporter. It was choked 1/4. & 3/4.

Those early ones were excellent as they had a trap stock fitted.  I don't like the new ones that have a traditional sporting stock... Way too low for me.

Browning/Miroku don't justt use stars to indicate choke in fixed guns like Beretta Brett is closest.

Choke markings can be found on the side of the barrels - by conversions from Miroku Manual the on on the picture is *=full and **=mod

Thank you gents,

Gun is a few hours drive away, so just need to find the time and I'll go look at it in the steel. That is unless the importer can place a straight butt stock on a Mk10 32" gun for me. Thank you all once again for the assistance here and via PM.
