You need to shoot 300 targets in a period to gain a temporary classification for use within that current period,  if you only shoot 100 targets in a period this will put you in a class at the close of said period, 92 in Sportrap is a AAA score so yes very well shot, in AAA you go

Will I read that as that 500 figure is used by CPSA for calculating cut off points, nothing to do with individual who can and a large number are, classed on just 100 targets shot
Don't think so Rich. He shot that last June and now shows no classification for STR now at all.

The 500 for cut off points makes no sense. They are calculated from ALL scores by all shooters.

100 targets shot will classify you in later times, but NOT for your first classification ever.

Sorry mate

Opps sorry I was under the impression he was a standing ESP A class shot,

Looks like Will is right. I did not read far enough down to see the bit about 500 targets. Should be the same number for all class calculations to keep it simple.

Anwyay thats lucky for me as no AAA haha. I would do a bit more STR bit struggle enough to get enough ESP shoots in as it is.

I have just one good Fitasc shoot showing in this period, so need to go and do another, or I'll be in A next time.. I will likely be doing some more STR though, as Owls are now doing a regular 100 STR.

As and Bs for me apart from Skeet where I am still languishing in C due to overleading the high house bird all the bloody time. Missed out on A in ESP due to some atrocious score in the early part of the year :(  B will do for now and ill hopefully move up next time.

I am in ESP buts its STR I have only shot 100 (2x50) so does not show any class for me in Issue 53.
Now I am confused as Ive shot Compak once and had a class and next period, Sportrap >500 targets and again a class, lots of room fir improvement in bothI add

Stayed in A class for ESP which was my main target. My average went up slightly - not sure how as scores been rather intermittent and felt like I have been wallowing near the bottom but my average is bang in the middle.

Do you have to shoot at least 300 to get a class - I just read that as meaning in order to request a temporary classification? It would seem so as I only did 100 in STR and they have my average as 92% so was concerned I would be lumped into AAA from one good score.
Youve two shoots 46 ex 50 (92%) and 31 ex 50 (62%) as its a different shoot the 31 “drops” so youve not even shot 100 thats most probably why nothing is showing

I think this 500 target min thing is new Rich.
500 Targets has nothing to do with your classification as I read it. That is a criteria needed from each shooter for their scores to go into the pool for working out the 'cut off point'. You need to shoot a minimum of 300 to gain a classification, and once you have that, you only need to shoot 100  per classification period to go up a class, and 300 to drop a class. It also seems to me that when you have a classification in any discipline, you only need to shoot 100 in another discipline to get a classification. I may be totally wrong but that's how I see it.

You might be right re the 500 vs 300. But the last part about only shooting 100 in a new discipline if you are already classified in another is incorrect. As I shot 100 STR whilst already being clased in ESP and did not get an STR class. I suspect 300 is again needed to get that first classification in any discipline.

Re my earlier post youve shot two 50 target events 46 & 31 not one 92,  am sure you need a minimum 100 targets to have a classification

I'm not sure how it all works. I've shot one round of skeet (93) and I've been given a B class.

Moved to B in Sport Trap and have only shot 250 Sporting with one of those rounds being the same as Lloyd with a similar outcome by the sound of it so I'm still in C.

I really need to make an effort to shoot more registered but rabbits over spaniels always seems to win out.

I have only shot compak about 3 times ever. Got my first classification in this discipline back in issue 45, after shooting 125 targets, which would of been the British open when it was held at Barbury, so definitely didn't have to shoot 300 back then. Maybe it has all changed. Who knows how they do it, probably lucky dip.

300 to request a temporary classification within a running period, at end of 6 month cycle you will be classified on 100 targets, has always been so?

So you only need to shoot 100 targets in any period, to get a classification for a discipline then, unless you want a temporary classification.
