Really makes more sense when you open the actual rule book and read that, rather then the snippet on the website front page (classifications), and listen to all the conjecture on here. You do only have to shoot 100 targets to get a classification, 300 for a temporary one (disciplines may vary), 100 to move up a class, but to go down a class you must have 300 targets recorded in your 'ADJUSTED AVERAGE' not your 'RAW AVERAGE' in ESP. Once you have a classification you will never be unclassified in that discipline, strange one that, as my compak classification has disappeared.

So you only need to shoot 100 targets in any period, to get a classification for a discipline then, unless you want a temporary classification.
Indeed,  when ones first becomes a member, first event is English Sporting if one takes a shine to it and enters a few more events after you've shot the first 300 you can ask for a temporary classification which will be set from those 300, if however you only shoot the once in that period that score will be used at the close of that period to class you

Actually read the rules Rich, to see why I never went down in sportrap. Didn't realise it was 300 adjusted targets as opposed to 300 raw to drop down. Not as accomplished a Sandbagger as I thought I was  . Still got another classification period to go before the worlds, best get my act back together.

Would be helpful if they linked to the rule booklet from the classification page. As I for one did not realise it was in there.

Even reading the booklet it says 100 targets in a period in order to be classified at the end of that period. As has been mentioned I did shoot a total of 100 STR targets (2x50) in 53 but the 2nd 50 bird score was dropped for my adjusted average (which I find strange in itself) and I received no class (only ESP and ESK show for me). Looking back to 45 I shot just 200 ESK and got a class from that but no dropped scores.

So either 100 does literally mean you have to shoot a full 100 birds in one comp or they only count the 100 from your adjusted targets.

So i have shot over the years not just this period 200dtl,50 single Barrel,no HBD in total but i am still classified for them?
It shows you as having shot at 100 SingleBarrel hence the average, as for HBD, think this is automatically generated / duplicate of your DTL classification, The DTL itself one can only assume you have a previous average of 76.67 carried forward as 39ex50 = 78% however its only 50 not the 100 targets needed for change.

Depends on your ESK scores for droppers. In DTL and ESK it is 5% blow raw average as opposed to 10% for other disciplines.

Once you have a classification (HBD) for any discipline you will never lose it. Even if you let your CPSA membership lapse. Low and behold my 'compak' classification has reappeared.
