so the question is when you’ve all purchased a new gun which I’m sure you all have is there a procedure you all go through before shooting your first shell
Check the chokes are tight, check the stock bolt is tight.
Drive to a ground - fill your pockets full of shells, tell yourself that 'newgunitis' only happens to other people - and get shooting - enjoy the experience.
Other than what's already been said, I'd check the barrels and if needed run a crumpled up peice of kitchen towel (paper) down them to make sure there's no surplus of oil or other crud lurking down there.
