morning ed.Always taken them off my gun and I am always deliberately conscious of where the rib is- you have to be if you plan of shooting sporting/FITASC to a decent level.
I believe you need "A" reference point; I prefer to use and unobstructed rib (I do see plenty of it) however if you are comfy with a bead then that is as good.morning ed.
do you agree with me that having removed the bead you then use the muzzle as a reference point ?? Therefore the argument that one does not or should not be aware of the bead / barrell is a red herring ??
I have always been fascinated by this topic ?
Absolutely. You can probably get away with just looking at the bird and lashing through t a bit on the lower stuff but shoot anything at a half sensible height, curling or with an element of crossing about it and you need a degree of barrel awareness for sure.thanks ed.
as I say I have always been fascinated by this aspect of shooting. The old adage of not looking at the barrell and or not seeing the bead I consider to be taken to literally. What should be stated is do not "focus" on the barrell or the bead but as you say you surely need a reference point all be it in your peripheral vision on some if not all targets.
do you concur and if I may ask your opinion on one more matter. Do you shoot game in the same manner as in with a reference point (as you put it) of in your case the rib or do you consider game shooting to be a totally different technique.
these are genuine questions I am genuinely interested in your opinion as I know you are a handy game shooter also.
