bought new 725  fitted like a glove    "in the shop"     ive shot it  twice , in competition  when it matters  stock is too low    sight picture aint right ,    every gun made should have adj comb as standard  ,  comb height is critical  to good gun fit ,  so its off to doveridge  to have one fitted  ,  they do a superb job , love the gun otherwise .    :nyam:

Yep.

Guns always fit and feel good in the shop.

I can't help but wonder if I need this doing to mine?

But the fact you noticed the problem within a couple of shoots, and I'm not really sure about mine after nearly a year, means I'm probably worrying about nothing!?

Always mount the gun in a shop with your eyes shut, open them and then see if it fits! Also sight on something outside the window not inside that's 6 ft away.

If it feels good in the shop and not when shooting your mount is not up to scratch and inconsistent (making yourself fit the gun)

Or more to the point westley you should never dry mount a gun looking down the gun your eyes need to be fixed on something else

Without wishing to rub it in, why would you buy a gun without shooting it first?

This simply highlights something that I have said every time that a gunfit issue arises. You NEVER dry mount a gun in the same way that you mount it on a moving target.
Exactly

Big +1

I knew before i bought my gun i would need an adjustable comb.

so it was either factor in a gunsmith job, or purchase a gun with one fitted ..

i chose the latter

:santa:

I trust you have never purchased a brand new gun Jan ? because I have never found any one who will let you shoot one without handing over the cash first .

Dr Lecter chose that one because he was under the assumption that it was the best fitting one on offer in the shop after trying over 12 725 's

Unfortunately as we all know it's not like buying a car

Iv never shot any gun before I bought it. If it was an option I would have

as deershooter said  I have never been allowed to shoot a brand new gun  ,  as one says  if shot  the gun aint brand new anymore    simples !

Grounds like Bywell, Mid Wales and others will always let you try a gun before you buy. At the very least you can take it out and simulate shooting targets.

I put almost 300 shells through my new gun before I committed to buying it. You'd not spend thousands on a new car without test driving it, guns are no different.

I also have never shot a gun before buying it. Admittedly I don't buy guns very often, but can't you guys tell if you can shoot with it just by mounting it and swinging it around in the shop? Luckily I can, or maybe I just get lucky with my choice? Never been wrong yet.

I would say that nearly 99% of shotguns are bought without being shot. Here in Lincolnshire I can't hardly think of a shop that has the facilities to try a brand new or S/H gun anywhere in our county. If some of you have had the chance to try one first then you are very lucky.
