I have bought at least 8 guns by post which present logistical problems to say the least, a good few new and second hand in person but can't remember shooting any of those either.

It doesn't matter either way because you have to do some fine tuning regardless.

There was i time when I'd let my heart rule my head when i liked a gun. Not any more, my mount is far from perfect but consistent enough not to let me fit myself to the gun. But in saying that when shooting some one else's gun even a left handed gun I'd make it fit me and shoot ok with it. It's just more work to shoot it. Any how an adjustable comb is a very useful tool for fine tuning and a good investment. There just not for me cause I'd never leave it alone I'd thinker with it constantly.

Without wishing to rub it in, why would you buy a gun without shooting it first?
I also have never fired a gun before I have brough it. They simply do not do it. Try being left handed even worse most shops do not stock lefties even for dry mounting in the shop. Game Fair last year not a single leftie in the try gun area.

Tried to see any Blaser Vantage, none any where, yet full one page adds in Pull mag for them.

Should also be able to test fire shells if buying them by the 1000. It seems you have to buy a slab see how you get on, may be change, buy another slab, ask people on here.

What a way to go on when spending £1000's.

Doesn't really matter anyway. All guns feel great in the shop and most guns shoot fab first time out. Only three months use will tell you if it's right.

Most of my guns have been brand new, never test driven one yet.

Have to disagree with you Ips.  :spiteful:

All Brownings feel rubbish in a shop or out of it. Perazzi's, well, just plain bland, and Kreighoffs, there hasn't been one made that could possibly handle right without severe customisation. No, cancel that, even with severe customisation they are still heavy great evil lumps of machinery!

OK, so I just bought a Miroku, but don't worry, I'll soon have that handling like my old Beretta.   :sarcastic:

Not that I'm biased of course!

Well my attempt at diplomacy has just been futile.

I fully agree with you of course but was scared to instigate another pro Beretta debate so well done you ;)

Some names that come to mind.

Martin Myers K

Ed Solomans K

Mark Winser K

Ben Hustlewaite K

Numerous trapy champs K

Not many M's, B's. Or can you name a few.

Well, there's me, Ips, my mate Dave, his mate Steve, Gordon, Roger, Peter, Stan and Andy. Oh! And Pete's wife too. How many more do you want?  :sarcastic:

Just because my list doesn't contain World Champions, British Champions or National Champions doesn't make Berettas a bad choice. In fact if they sponsored shooters like Kreighoff do then nobody else would get a look in.

I rest my case!    xD

Ian peel

Aaron heading

Chris tate

That's just a taster of current English ot shooters of note, How long have you got fo r foreign ot and dtl shooters past and present. Perazzi and Beretta I would think have a pretty equal share of world class trap shooters. The odd miroku here and there including ian peel before he saw the light. You very rarely see any of the other none Italian makes in the trap world mainly because there ugly and expensive and only shot by people who are given them or by people with a total lack of taste.

Nothing imo equals a Beretta

Ps

I have nothing against miroku there utilitarian and do a job, our own philr uses one to good effect but there not what one would consider aesthetically pleasing or indeed aspirational and most miroku shooters would be the first to agree.

It's all ( Zzzzzzzzzzzzz) been said in the past. I'll bet you lot down there have never ever even shot one.

I have owned Miroku's 30 years ago. Top guns wish I had them now. Had two Beretta's both top guns but just kept breaking down. Had a fantastic looking DT10 best wood, ask Haggis. But the engineering was just rubbish.

So had them all, over the years so what do I buy. The DT10 had to go just couldn't live with going back and forwards to Fareham every month.

Something completely different.

This gun, the K, should see me out and I get that nostalgia kick , you lot are all looking for, from the Remmies.

I understand the K is a marmite gun but all the other makers seem the same to me. Very little difference between them.

:fie:  Now, I don't want this to get into a P***ing match between TopDog and Rosso with me inthe middle! :fie:

I shot a Krieghoff in the 70's before they were imported and I shot a Perazzi skeet gun in the 70's and I also shot a Berretta

S56 in the 70's so what I say goes! (bloody kids think they know it all?)

They are all good guns (and a bit like woman, some expensive, some better than others!  )

All the above names don't count they all could win shooting a broom handle, I need a gun that would make me shoot like them and I found it. Still waiting for my permit tho.

Got you all to bite though, didn't I?   :sarcastic:

I like all guns, it's just that some are better than others.  IMHO.

I new that. Didn't get me going did you. Bas****.

What I don't get is....... Why is Guru being so nice. No one liners for ages now.

He must be getting worried about an imminent visit regarding food.

Still it's not full moon yet.

Think a bloke called Faulds did quite well with a beretta

Grounds like Bywell, Mid Wales and others will always let you try a gun before you buy. At the very least you can take it out and simulate shooting targets.

I put almost 300 shells through my new gun before I committed to buying it. You'd not spend thousands on a new car without test driving it, guns are no different.
They'll let you shoot second hand gun's or demo gun's but they wont let you shoot new gun's at Bywell. They wouldn't for me, maybe they would for the regulars at the ground?

I don't know off any shop that let's you shoot new guns. point is they wouldn't be new then and would have to sell them second hand at a knock down price.

I know it's not international competition but it IS a BIG collection of people shooting moving targets where tank-like K-guns are popular

From the 2013 Grand American - here are the guns and trophies won. Shooters with Pguns won over 400 trophies. Beretta was waaaay back there at 128. At the 2014 Grand, I guess you may have seen the pic of the young fellow who won the GA Handicap - I think he was holding a Perazzi. Perhaps you would like to know what kind of gun Dave Shaeffer was shooting for doubles?? What is it you have against Perazzi anyway. If you like Beretta more, buy one.

1. Beretta 9% 128

2. Blaser 3% 37

3. Browning 10% 139

4. Kolar 13% 177

5. Krieghoff 21% 299

6. Remington 2% 23

7. Perazzi 29% 414

8. Caesar Guerini 5% 75
