Well apparently next year we will not be able to use plated shot for OT in certain circumstances/comps. Any thoughts on this guys? If you currently use plated shot, do you think that using non plated shot will have an effect on your shooting? Or will it just save you some money?

It'll just save us some money Les. Level playing field and all that. But what about Black Eagle carbon and quartz processed. Can't get any sexier than that Les when trying to flog stuff to gullible shooters. I suppose Cheddite Oro, Fiocchi Shootoff and Golden Trap must be for the chop. But what about Black Gold - seems to have a non lead coat. Aside: Just talking 24gm and issf here folks.

Funny you should say that Fred! The sexy thing I mean. I never shoot with shells that I don't like the look of. I used to, but I never seemed to shoot them very well, all in the mind I suppose. I hate shells with low brass and I don't like certain colours, mainly green and orange. I suppose it's a bit of superstition or something. So what is it with those Black Eagles then Fred, is there something special about them, where does the carbon and quartz bit come into it then?

You got me on colours there Les, I just don't like orange clays. Carbon quartz processing is mysterious Les, a bit like magic but makes it sound good.

T4 PRO-EXTRA «BLACK EAGLE» EVOLUTION
24 gr. - 28 gr.

12/70 2-3/4 EHB

- 7/8 oz. - 1 oz.

Shot nr. 7 - 7.5 - 8 - 9.5 Carbon/Quartz (24 gr. - 7/8 oz.)
Shot nr. 7 - 7.5 - 8 Carbon/Quartz (28 gr. - 1 oz.)

- Special lead shot with high percentage of antimony, carbon/quartz processed, specially designed for hard or ecological clays, and suitable for long distances (FITASC Sporting)
- Cromoflex ® Wad with special blue color, invisible to the environment, high stress resistant
- Higher Speed for both 24 gr. the 28 Gr., obtained without increasing the quantity of powder or tightening the crimp closures, but due to the new carbon/quartz lead shot, more spherical and 3% harder and heavier than normal lead shot, to keep high velocity over 35 m.
- New printing on cases, new box and new packaging for a better identification of the product of Clever-Mirage

OK Fred, so were onto bloody alchemy now by the look of it! Have you tried any Balck Eagles yet? As for the orange clays......well whenever I miss one it's always an orange one for some reason!

Fred, try some...they are the real deal!!! Open one up, the shot is harder and heivier than any other lead shot. It has more retainsore energy at distance, dosent break long edge on clays, it smashes them!!!

Hi Darkside, I'll get 1000 from Tom at the end of the season then Les and I will fire 'em off at Southern Counties before they close

I know I was told that you can't shoot OT with poor quality ammo but come on I can't afford this! Can I not just use the Mary Arm comps I bought, they say they can be used for UT and OT they wouldn't tell lies ....would they ;)   Seriously though chaps using the carts above won't make any difference to my shooting of OT will it , I mean a miss is a miss right! :)

Well here you go work this out, I practice with cheap as chips shells like fiochii top ones or something like that and put in very good scores all the time, for example shot a 49 ex 50 on scheme 9 about 2 weeks ago and that is not an easy scheme, then I go to a GB selection shoot and use RC 4 red nickel shot and shoot like a complete cock , what can I say!

Nice one Watchman you give me hope :) Don't mean that in a bad way! Just that the other week I shot a 21 and 22 at ABT which for me is good then had one last round and was all over the place with a 17! It was very hot I think my eyes had gone even though I guzzled 2L of water.. well that's my only excuse :)  Getting better though mostly shoot twenty something now.

Yes pressure and expectation, so nothing the RC4s could do about it!
I shoot the Fiocchi Top ones with Watchman and some of the second barrel kills we get shows that lead flying through the air will break anything regardless of which shell it was spat from.

Good day cheap cartridge =good score

bad day expensive cartridge =bad score

go figure

Yep probably pressure , especially as I've got a lot riding on it this year, I'm going to shoot cheap shells at the last GB shoot at southern counties in September and as I'm going to the UK this time via Heysham I'm bringing my own shells rather than buying them down there, sick of them pulling down my pants and applying the rubber gloves.

Watchman

I have shot the 24g top ones and I must say if you did not know they were cheapos you would have been more than happy. As Les said somewere its difficult to fall in love with a cartridge that hasn't got deep brass and a nice colour, shows how superficial we are.

Maybewe have too much choice these days as I don't remember having this degree of choice in the 80s

Mirage pro extra evolution are fantastic. The original Pro extras were a fine cartridge. In fact I have yet to shoot anything from the Clever Mirage range that isn't good. Even the T2's perform better than most other brands.

In my humble opinion yes, low recoil, great kills, and ultra reliable. Reliability has been better than any other brand I have shot. I dread to think how many mirage I have shot in the last 4 years,  could work it out, but won't incase my wife stumbles across this page and works out the amount of money I've thrown down range. But shot a mixture of T2's Grand Italias and pro extras, only ever had 1 duff cartridge. I will clarify what I mean about the T2's as I was not very clear, like for like cost wise I haven't found anything that seem to perform better, and would shoot the T2's in preference of more upmarket cartridges from other makers. But thats just my opinion for what its worth.

( probably in excess of 55 thou)
