hi,

looking at perazzi high ribs can anyone with one please put me straight....

when referring to the manual about the POI and aim point differences, is that based on a sight picture where by when mounted you can only see the bead and none of the rib(with it in the level posiiton) or do you still see some of the top of the flat bit of the rib? if not, what assumptions do they make about the amount of rib seen to then manage POI/aim differences?

Also, whats the impact to POI and aim when raised from the level position (2nd front and rear) to top front and rear i.e., still parallel?

not sure how much rib i should be seeing when setting the comb level.

also, when adjusting comb height (i'd assume start with rib in level posiiton) and then raise comb until your head is in the right position? how hard into the cheek bone (whatever the technical name for it is), i.e., is it pressed in hard so bone on wood or only a light pressure?

so many questions....

Most will never be answered cos you keep moving the bloody goal posts.

Newbie,

Over the last few weeks you have asked so many questions, not only are you confused, so are the rest of us! :.: :.: :.:

Do the same as the rest of us, learn by your mistakes after spending a fortune.

Considering you're a trappy go to a shooting ground with a straight away dtl type bird on or a dtl range you can get the groundsman to lock the trap off straight away (preferably on a quiet weekday) take all your adjusting tools, allen keys ect. Then tinker away to your hearts content until you get smoking kills with the sight picture and comfort level You prefer to see/feel

The book may say at x setting poi will be 80/20 above but that will change with different folks set ups. Remember your eye is the rear sight so doesnt matter how the rib is set different people will get different outcomes as their eye will be in different positions ;) Also depends on shooting style, are you a touch the bird and banger or a blotter outer?

When you get it set how you like it, throw away the keys else setup will be blamed for any percieved dip in form ;)

I don't think we can help much over the net because there are few hard & fast rules about sight picture and cheek pressure. You need someone with you to get the thing setup and sorted on actual targets. I'd suggest contacting Ian Coley's and book an hour with Jim or Shaun. A few quid spent now could save you months of grief.

Seconded on Shaun, plenty of county champs for trap under his belt and a recent good performance at a dtl selection shoot. Will certainly get you set up for trap ;)
