Pilla 66N lens has anyone tried them?

I see that Pilla are doing a VIVX2 - 3D High Contrast Kit with a 66N purple lens.

Is this a replacement for the 44N?

Has anyone tried these and compared them to each other 44N, 46N and the 66N?

I have used the 44n they are fantastic in foggy days and back ground elimation if you want any lens get them of ed lyons he is great too work with in prices

I can second Ed Lyons for all shooting glasses especially Pilla.

Tony, I borrowed a pair of 44n or 46n to shoot with last year, the only fault I could find with them was they were a fraction on the dark side, 66n would let more light through and could potentially be ideal...it's not like we get too many bright days to shoot up here!!!

I've got some 66N in stock, it's a nice lens. The 44N is my favourite all round lens but the 66N is good when light isn't bright/cloudy days.

James, Ben, The idea that the 66N is a lot lighter appeals to me as James says not too many bright days in Scotland.

I also prefer to let more light in, but I want the definition as my eyes are not the best. I usually use Oakley high persimmon lens for almost every day, even the odd bright one.

I could borrow the 44N lens but not the 66N lens, thats why I was asking.

The 44 and 46 are almost identical, I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone to buy both.

The 66 is quite nice, gives some enhancement especially on orange targets in less bright conditions, whilst keeping the background fairly neutral.

Quite similar to the Randolph Light Purple….which is £100 cheaper  :crazy:

And how would it compare to the 65 high contrast ?

About £135…as its the same light transmission, less 1%, the only difference is the slight orange boosting effect of the purple.

However, remember when the Max Orange 65 lens was the "go to" option for blaze?!

They came out with this "600% Orange Boosting" figure, how this was determined is anyone's guess.

Personally, I like Purple/Blue based lenses but i'm also a bit light sensitive so i tend to wear darker lenses. I won't be sticking the 66 in my shooting bag but that's just me!

If you feel the HC 65 is too bright/too yellow, it may be worth a try.

Thanks, the 65 high contrast is ok in very very poor light but can be a touch to much and everything seems to become bright including the orange clay. I have various other lens such as the 40 high def 15 high def and the 85 max orange but would like something for low light / overcast conditions but without the brightness of the 65. What do you recommend ?

I'd probably look at the old 85Gold if you can get one…or the "new" (read pretty much the same!) 78HC, these give the contrast boosting effect of the 65 but without the intensity

Tried the 66N today and it handled changable light conditions better than the 65 max orange I would normally use. A sunny day but lots of clouds  crossing the sun. I would probably buy this lens rather than the 44N.

A friend has a 46N for me to try next week and i will see if anyone has 66
