POLL - Chokes & Shot size

I thought with all the various threads on here about what chokes and shot sizes people prefer, it would be interesting to have a poll on it so we can see what the most popular combinations are.

I have tried to include a poll which covers 'sporting' and 'trap' to try and keep things as simple as possible. 

I hope this works!!

It would be great if we could get as many people to add their choices....

I think it would be more meaningful if two choices were allowed.

i.e. if using a fixed choke gun such as 3/4 & Full would you use differing shot size for differing presentations or distances?

But of course this is the essence of opinion polls 45% think Alex Salmond is NOT a nutter.

I shot the east midlands DTL last weekend with 1/4 1/4 but I dare not put that in the poll. I would probably get banned from the forum for being to open.

You're probably right Salopian, but I didn't want it to get too complicated.

Plus, with the choice of only one, people are forced to think more carefully and choose the shot size and choke they would "take to a shooting ground on a desert island" so to speak.

Yes, I shoot sporting but I have to make a choice for trap before I can submit. Although small my choice's would skew the result for trap.

You might be surprised at the amount of Trap shooters who use 1 x 1/4 choke - I don't think many use 2 though

I would normally use 3/8 and 1/2 but I was a bit late getting to the first layout so I left the chokes in, I got a couple of 2nd barrel kills so left them in for the rest.

I see your point. I don't shoot trap either, but I chose the choke that I would use if I were to try.... I picked I/M. Which interestingly enough, seems to be the favourite so far. Maybe lots of other fellow hedge monkeys have done what I have?!

For fast trap I now use 1/2 and full, however on the rate occaisions that I shoot DTL I use 3/8 and 5/8. I nornally use English 7 or 7.5.

Sporting; 3/8th - shotsize no8.

Trap; 5/8th - shotsize no7.5.

Those combo's drop enough clays for me to be happy.

What is LF then? 7/8ths?

Mind you, it doesn't really matter I suppose, this thread was just for a bit of (hopefully) interesting fun! ;-)
