Absolutely brilliant. Wish them the best of luck.

Very very interesting.

If they can get NBC to stick with it for 5 years plus and get the coverage right who knows?

Can only be good for the sport at all levels...

It all sounds very exciting.

I just hope that it takes off and goes nationwide as soon as possible.

This format is tailor made for George Digweed and Richard Faulds.

No doubt that the prize fund will be made up from large expensive entry fees, but it will be there to be won.

Winning an event could be worth more than £9500 less expenses, so it could be a nice little earner.

Let us just hope that the camera shots are brilliant.

I don't see any reason why not as the Masters Golf has shown.

A good knowledgeable commentator and a Compak / Sportrap layout for the shoot offs and recorded footage of misses earlier in the day would build the excitement. For instance if they had a Claysnooker type of final format where an outsider could catch up on a clear leader with exceptional luck and ability, it could be nailbiting and awesome.

Let us all hope it happens and is successful, remember we have The World's here in 2014 so it is your chance to compete on an equal footing with these professionals.

Salop....watch it again then you will get the picture better as to where it is and what the proposed structure is....and how it is going to be funded.

It would be great to see it here....but that would need the NGB's to actually get serious investment and serious sponsors.........(and that means outside of the shooting industry)............and 'that'......just ain't going to happen.

This would only get going in the UK if an independent, obviously with great business skills and contacts , got involved. Structure would be clear, rules would be specific and covering all eventualities, no hint of cheating ...however tiny...would be tolerated if it was connected to any form of 'serious' TV coverage.Sponsored money would be huge because of a connection to a serious Pro Tour. Organisation would be spot on........(nothing like the skeet situation that Simon Hill mentioned would ever happen on a Pro Tour).....!

However what we are lacking are clubs.....!

In the UK it would be the Hicksville Pro Tour.

Best plan in my honest opinion.....is that those who know they are good enough....like Richard and George (who i think will get the invite straight in) and those who 'think' they could make it on a pro tour.......should get themselves out there and let their shooting do the talking. If this takes off you want to be in from the beginning.

If you are worried about finances....then a Pro Tour is most certainly 'not' for you...sad but true story..!

America will lead the way on this because they have the shooters, the big clubs, the knowledge and the access to TV.

UK is the poor cousin .....it has a bunch of numpties at the top who could not organise or adjudicate their way out of a paper bag.....

a load of porocial shooters with .external and internal camo....

a very very few seriously capable, seriously committed competition shooters.....

a whole bunch of green eyed monster type shooters (for many reasons),

several more promising new shooters but sadly without finances to get the help needed to make them shine......

and a massive amount of beginner shooters who just love to play a sport that they love and are not really into competitions.

So looking at our lot here in the UK......and bearing in mind that this is a sporting Pro Tour.......who the hell do you see who is capable of taking up the cudgels on this one.....and coming across as a clear speaker with natural media presence......?

Who can speak on U-Tube (let alone main TV)?? Think of anyone....?? Who would you put in charge to run a UK Pro Tour???

The Cpsa......or BICTSF....???

I would laugh my fooking ass off if ever they got involved........it would be the first biggest mistake of a UK Pro Tour.....just saying...!

True story...!

But......What do I know. I am only a retired business woman and trap shooter now...

:fie:  Goddammit Nic you are a cynic!  I bet you know that this has already been tried here in the U.K. by Steve Middleditch and a whole bunch of Euro shooters back in the 90's. They held a couple of shoots I believe with high entry fees and good prizes but!  how many shooters a going to bung a grand or so per entry and have a chance of winning  the money? :hunter:

Yes i did....but that it not what is envisaged this time in US.

Ah but Guru....if you had listened to it all...you would have known that.

The selection to the pro tour is done on the back of certain normal shoots like nationals.......not big money entry.

The whole point as with all pro tours.....is having top quality...very very rich sponsors....and often involving TV sponsors as well.

I am never a cynic .....only a realist.....that is how you make money Sireeeeeeeyl

And I was referring like the video explained, to a professionally set up pro tour......not a few odds and sods who have tried this in the past in the UK without the full backing of the types of people that can make it 'fly'..! Even old Wes put up a similar idea to Steve's not so long ago. It did not work (big entry fee shoots don't work here...basically because there is only a few shooters like Richard, George who have true confidence in their ability to win....and who would take the punt on it. Most of the rest of our 'good' for the UK shots........just will not put the money down.... )

This will only work in the UK when some organised, bright, connected young thing, steps forward with his or her massive backers, creates a clear format with no Woolley areas, has a comprehensive policy that is rock solid on behaviour standards and dress standards for the image a pro tour has to represent......and someone who is incapable of being bullied by anyone......they choose the pro's.....they refuse the people that they do not want in the tour (for whatever reason, behaviour, sportsmanship, poor TV look).

Until that sort of person can turn a shooting event into a televisual possibility..........then can I suggest that the 'real Pro possibilities' look to booking their flight tickets to Dallas.....over anything else. You will know within the first 3 years if it has legs..!

:fie: how many shooters a going to bung a grand or so per entry and have a chance of winning the money? :
There are several big money competitions held all over the World where this is a normal entry fee.
Wait till you see Maktoum's special shoot next year with 600,000$ prize fund......!! Oh wait....you won't  it is invite only for the first year......just like this one in the US.....

Both of which have massive background 'BUSINESS' sponsors.....!!

Are we all getting the message yet.

Now back to the question I asked.........'who' on the current boards of Cpsa and BICTSF ......is up to this sort of job...or has the required contacts.......or even have the ability to sit in on a business meeting at that sort of level...in order to extract that level of sponsorship...??

  answers on a postcard please......if you can think of one.

There are 'movers and shakers' and then there are shakers and movers.........

Thanks Nicola, I did watch the video until the end. I do understand American , I see that it is based in Texas, and is backed by a very rich man who will possibly become disenchanted very quickly and move on. So I will sit and wait and watch.

And Merry Christmas to you to Salopian

Hope you are wrong this time because this could be great for shooting

Hi Nicola hope you had a nice Christmas break, do you have a link for this comp?

There you go Jay.....Salop has given it you.

This is the competition I told everyone on here about ages ago....when Pete Wilson came for a brew and told me about it.

The prize fund will get bigger each year as the brothers want it to be one million in 2015. This will get very interesting over the years.

Only 1000 entries....and you get your entry fee back. Scotty has put up the hotels on his Facebook page. Anyone thinking of going will need to get the gun entry requirements sorted. I suspect this could be where the 'filter' will come in.....(and references from their various people who read forum sites).

Are you thinking of going...? Talk to Scotty he was out there earlier this month.

:fie:  Uh! excuse me is this thread about the Proffessional Clay Pigeon Shooting Association USA or the completely different post about the Dubai shoot? :fie:   :fie:
