MK 38.  When the barrels are removed, should the top lever stay in the open position or spring back?

TIA.

Stay open until you either refit the barrels or press the release catch in the action to bring it back

Stay open. Ut xan be closed by opening the lever again when the barrels are removed and letting the trap door fall to the closed position.  You might need to press it down.

I always put aa gun in the case with the top lever in the middle. Just to release it so the lever doesn't catch the gun  case or get knocked. It might take a bit of pressure of the lever spring.

A friend's mk38 (old one), my one (4 years old) and another of 3 years old, all spring back to the centre when the barrels are removed.

It's not a problem at all, it's just that any gun I have, or had, all stay open.

Both my Miroku's stay open unless the lever is depressed. One is new and the other 20yrs old, they work the same
