i was reading this (or could be last) months Clay shooting and someone in there was extolling the virtues of reciol reducing systems. do any trappies here use them and rate them? I have read that the ISIS green pad is excelelnt but is it worth combining with the recoil system or other equivalent systems?

Got a danuser recoil system on my mk38 with a thin isis green pad on it. Shot over 300 shells this weekend and dont feel it :D I believe a few on here have just the isis green and find it better than the kickeeze as it has less "bounce back" to it, also useful when coupling with a recoil system else its like shooting a pogo stick :.: :.:

do you use the gun for trap disciplines or sporting i.e., is there any disadvantages with it when having to mount the gun to shoot as opposed to premounted?

Yep, Isis pad really reduces bounce and muzzle flip, but you still feel recoil. Would like to try the full system.

for anyone that has the danuser, what are the implications for gun fit when fitting one and does that affect the balance and handling of the gun?

bit of everything for me including game, mainly sporting tho. Never had a poor mount due to the danuser snagging, if I do its my own silly fault :.:

Answered on the CG thread ;)
so roughly how much length does it add? how much can it be adjusted (for length) with the 3-5 twists of the recoil barrel? I will poss need to lengthen my stock c0.5in.... this might make the gun viable...

mine is 40mm with the green pad and 35mm with flat plastic pad. when they fit them they cut down the stock to lenght if needed or can just fire it on to add length.

the danuser isnt adjustable for length, the recoil barrel is just an adjuster to make it softer or firmer. they are designed for anything from shotgun up to .500 nitro big game rifles

thanks for that. so to turn a 14.5in into a 15 or 15.25in stock if i have the smaller isis pad i'll need to get the stock shortened by c1in..... ouch.

is your the fully adjustable one?

To fit any kind of recoil reducer device you need to cut the stock down by the width of that device which sounds obvious really. People don't like doing this on the better grade guns especially as they perceive a loss in value and they may have a point, on the cheaper sub £2k stuff it's a no brainer as it will not hurt values but if anything make resale easier. Why people live with the fatigue is beyond me.

I've had nearly all of them and they work, the adjustable ones are better as they can help you get rid of the unwanted shuffle effect which can occur when set too light. If you really want to avoid altering your stock then buy a PFS which is the best, most adjustable and a completely separate unit.

Right then, just got off the trumpet after a good 30-40 minute chat with David at Recoil Systems.

I think I've decided on a decent thickness green pad for the sporter and the full hydraulic damper jobby on the trap gun but I will sleep on it. Nice guy and very informative.

The 30-40 min thing is standard. Same for me. He should record it and just play it back to you. :D

I have the pad fitted, all good. Not spongey soft, but stops bounce and muzzle flip well.

Full system at gunsmith awaiting fitting. Nicky T is trying his out this weekend and it will be interesting to see what he thinks; before I `make the chop`.
