Good ref's + not so good ref's.

What makes a GOOD referee ?

You want a ref that's in control.any comments like "that was dead"should be ignored the first time and rip the card up the second. that should stop the cheating

For me a good ref is someone who:

- clearly explain themselves before the round begin e.g. the targets are wind affected, so no birds will be rare etc etc

- clearly calls lost targets

- firm but fair with decisions, not someone who will let them be brow beaten by argumentative competitors

- admits if they were slow/fast pulling

In an ideal world............

A good ref will know the rules like the back of his hand and be qualified in the discipline that he is reffing.

He will be both impartial and fair at all times.

He will have a positive and welcoming demeanour.

On majors or any titled shoot ....only experienced refs should be used (with new refs along to learn competition REFFING skills).

HE UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL TAKE sh*t FROM COMPOSED GROUPS OF SHOOTERS

HE UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL BE BULLIED BY ANY SHOOTER NO MATTER HOW FAMOUS THEY MAY THINK THEY ARE.

HE WILL ENSURE THAT WHEN HE IS REFFING.......HIS WORD IS GOD......END OFF...!!

If anyone has any stroppy bollocks moment .....at all....at any time....he makes a note of who they are and the specifics of the problem ......and he then will tell them to 'duck off to the jury and pay their money to air their view'.....and if they do not want to do that ,....then they should just 'duck off anyway'.

Ref is king........end off.
