I'm looking for a couple of Alpha testers for a clay shooting app. Ideally you'll need to be the owner of a smartwatch running Android Wear so a Samsung Gear Live, LG G Watch, LG G Watch R, Asus ZenWatch, Sony SmartWatch or Motorola Moto 360. You'll need a matching and paired smartphone to load up the app ( and do some other stuff in future ) The App works without a Smartwatch as well.

Nothing too sophisticated as yet, just a scoring app to let you score while practising or shooting on your own. The app runs on the watch and partnered Android phone so it replaces a fiddly bit of paper and allows you to keep track of your hits with simple fingertip gestures on the watch as you reload between shots.
( I find fiddling with a pen and piece of paper between shots really screws up my concentration! )

Drop me a PM and let me know what discipline you are keen on and what watch / phone combo you are running.

Any AppleWatch aficianodo's will have to wait a while as I am concentrating on Android for the moment! ( and I'm in a queue for a unit to test with )

I have no idea what any of that means. ..

If I had a smart watch I'd totally take you up on it, but if you want me to have a go at using it only on my HTC1 I'll give it a go too!

has anybody actually bothered with smart watches,i know 2 people that got them free with phones as a gimmick.

lasted a couple of weeks and now they reside in the sock draw.

will be interested to see how many offers you get, personally i use the old grey matter as counting has never really been a problem for me

I don't wear a watch - but good luck with that - always good to see someone innovating.

If I feel a need to count scores whilst practicing, I pop an empty for each miss into the opposite pocket.

It soon fills up.

Im interested, but am looking for a suitable watch :)

I agree, its a pita trying to  button , shoot & score for yourself if shooting solo, and anything that hekps would be great

i'm looking at a generic smart watch off the bay, to see how that would work...   i might even push out to a genuine  one if i like ..

Now i'm not a frapple affecionado, but have to admit, the new offering watch wise loks stunning ( especially in rose gold)  but at £13,000 its a complete and utter no no

i'd be happy to beta test the app when i get a watch

:santa: x

Santa. Beware the generic ones off ebay ( u8 and u10 and similar ) they don't allow you to upload apps and they are not running Android , apple or anthing compatible with open development.

I got both an LG G Watch R and a Sony SmartWatch 3 for just on £100 each for my development project.

There's a High Pheasants RSR with my name on it long before I get near a £13k Apple watch! :)   :)

i'll be in touch with a few people shortly with some software and the start of some documentation!

Trust a techie to come up with a far simpler alternative! :)

Sorry like Ips is all beyond me as well and I never wear a watch.

sometimes i wear a watch but it has hands not software, very reliable doesn't crash.freeze or need updating

just out of interest how often do these i use the term loosely "smart" watches need to be charged? probably like your phone lasts for days if you don't use it,less than a day if you do.

Not Great. At the moment you can squeeze 2 or 3 days out of some watches. The point is not to use them as a watch but as a simple extension to the User Interface.

I wear a watch that is just a watch.

It has hands.

It doesn't even have a battery.

It only tells the time.

I like it that way ?

But good luck with the app Nimbus. All tech advances are good ??

So you have to tap the watch after every shot or pair to register your score- That will ruin the concentration and the set routine.

What did we do before all this tech

Good luck with it anyway
