Hi everybody

I want some glasses for shooting clays with.  I already have a very cheap pair that do the job......but they are scratched off cartridges in my pocket!!!!!  I would like a pair that doesn't have any components that sit on the bridge of your nose as I can see them when I look down the barrel.  The less distraction I have the better!!!!!

Your guidance is always appreciated!

Be careful Steve. The shooting glasses market is full of pitfalls for the unwary. Oakley still make the best value shooting glasses in my opinion. Have a look on the West Country Guns website, they do mail order and have a good range. Advice is freely given - call them and ask for Haggis, he will sort you out in no time at all. Don't for goodness sake get pulled in by the 'they are expensive so they must be good' brigade. You will still have to spend over a hundred quid but it needn't be four hundred for the fashionable ones.

Much appreciated Ian!

I can assure you that I am incredibly unfashionable and a pair of Oakleys will do fine!  £400 for a pair of glasses would have to add another 25% to my scorecard everytime I went out.....and I don't think I will be easily sold on that fact!!!

Cheers!!

I use a pair of Decot Hy-Wyds but they are made by the same company that make the Hi-Scorers supplied by Chris Potter (check out his website http://webshop.gun.co.uk/shooting-glasses/high-scorers/high-scorers-shooting-glasses-three-lens-set.html). I've recently bought a few pairs of different coloured lenses from CP as I only had yellow and they fit my frames perfectly. They come with three pairs of lenses (your choice) and additional lenses are only £23.50 a pair.

Very reasonable cost (£129 inc three pairs of lenses) and they come with an adjustable bridge so you can mount the bridge well above your line of sight.

The wire stalks take blinds if you want them and they fit perfectly under ear defenders. never been quite sure about how the Oakleys would fit under ear defenders but then again I've never looked.

Highly recomended

I will second that DT! I have Hi-Scorers, I've had the things for years but I didn't know that they were made by the same people as Decot though! I thought Decot was an American outfit, Hi-Scorers are made by Straub Optical in Australia as far as I know.

Like you I have had my Decot's for donkeys years (about 17 years actually) and there is a little piece of paper on the case which says Made in Australia !! Not sure if the current Decots are still sourced from Oz as the design appears to have changed a little.

I spoke with Chris Potter as to whether the Hi Scorer lenses would fit my Hy Wyds and he assured me they would which has subsequently proven to be the case.

Nice one dt!

Much appreciated everyone!

These prices are more like it!  I shall take a look at all of them and decide upon a pair.

Many Thanks for your guidance and help.
