I hate shooting in too many layers and Partictlarily hate shooting in jackets never found one that did not feel restrictive however as cold is upon us and i really need to keep my dodgy back warm can someone recommend something warm but lightweight that would be suitable for trap bearing in mind the above.

Same situation for me - hate bulky clothing. Have found that multiple thin layers works best for me. Air gets trapped between the layers and keeps you warm.

I wear a thin thermal baselayer, then a normal t-shirt of polo shirt (these ones are excellent), then a microfleece - which is really thin and lightweight.

I use http://www.edzlayering.com/ for good thermal layering clothes.

Ian, i have just bought a musto vest and a musto clay fleece jacket. The jacket is waterproof, very comfortable, warm, and can be used over a teeshirt, or with extra layers. Its larger around the back to allow for gun movement etc. Product code is CS0073. They also do one with just a mesh lining. As for sizing buy what you normally wear

PS its far better than my old Barbour clay jacket!

Musto fleece lined are worn year round here, worth every penny.

John Norris usually have them on sale.

Hi Ian, not 100% certian but think I have seen Musto jackets in the shop at Sealand, if so will be checking them out myself on Sat. you know what I am like with the cold weather!!. Al.

Alan,

WMSG Hodnet has a huge range of Musto gear and even has WMSG Hodnet Branded Musto clothing.

If I wasn't a fashion Guru contracted to Boss and Armani I would buy some myself.

Actually, old chap, I hope my staff actually buy my provisions from a more upmarket store than Lidl, such as Aldi or Costcutter.

Currently in this mild spell we are having, I am perfectly warm in my ermine trimmed mankini.

Joking apart I was in the local country store today behind a young man who was obviously shooting tomorrow or more probably Saturday, he bought a pair of Barbour shooting socks and 50 No5 Express 12gauge cartridges.

" That's £57-60 please"

Whaaaaaaaaat??????????

Thanks for that Salopian, if I draw a blank at Sealand (I am going there anyway) I shall have a look a WMSG.

Cheers, Al.

Ian, it's easier to pack it in when the weather gets cold mate! Better off talking about it in the pub with a pie and a pint! :.:
