Extensive upgrading being carried out on the skeet ranges at Dartford, shingle being laid on all ranges, stands being shuttered for new concreting. This will be followed up with paths out to stand 8 for NSSA shoots on all ranges.

100% visible target's on ALL the ranges again and you'll have cracked it :)

Just an update on ground improvements taking place.

All four skeet ranges have now had fresh scalping laid, shutterings to all stands almost complete, works already started on the

Car Park & roadway to the sporting ranges, concrete pour hopefully next week for the new stands.

Another couple of weeks work should bring the ground back to normality and then work begins on the roads leading to the ground and the ranges.

This is all great news Ray, very pleasing to see and looks fantastic.  Those finishing touches really make the difference.  Is the banking helping with the water situation?

I haven't shot any skeet for a bit now as have been concentrating on sporting and also teaching a new guy...but we will have to come up.

Will you be putting any OSK on?

The banking was put in to alleviate the sound, the original bank was 4 metres high and over time has sunk with the water table being so low, it had nothing to do with the water itself.

There are no plans to hold OSK as there does not seem to be the interest from shooters in that discipline.

With the ground being a flood plain , how have you managed to avoid the legislation concerning the use of lead shot ?

Hi Gary,

The banking was put in to alleviate the sound and concerns raised by council, the original bank was 4 metres high and over time has sunk with the water table being so low,

it had nothing to do with the water itself as the ground is on a flood plain.

There are no plans to hold OSK as there does not seem to be the interest from shooters in that discipline.

The prime consideration now, is to get back skeet & NSSA skeet where it was before, with shooter numbers on the rise.

3 ranges almost complete with new scalpings and concreted stands, work has started on the car park areas and roads.

Yep - and quite impressive to see - when I was there shooting the FITASC Sporting on Saturday, there was lots of activity going on - including some kind of diggery/dozery thing spreading stony/shale-y stuff across the carpark - its was like waiting on a peg with a small earthquake going on....  but great to see a ground really investing in making life easier for shooters.

Another update on the position of Dartford and the ranges:

Scalpings now laid, all stands concreted on the skeet ranges, the roads and path down to the Sporting stands are now completed.

Car Park area has been freshly laid with scalpings as has the parking area behind the skeet ranges.

A back up generator has been purchased for skeet ranges, Work begins on the skeet hospitality suite over next few weeks to the roof, and interior.

Hey Ray OSK is it not a case of supply and demand? Been looking for somewhere anywhere that has regular OSK... Field of dreams "build it they will come" !!!

If you want to shot OSK at Dartford ,either ring or e-mail to check availability ,it can be put on for you (there are five skeet ranges)but obviously it has to be worthwhile as it means setting it up changing the sprngs on the traps ect.and all this takes time . Allen Warren comes down occasionally with a group of OSK shooters but lets the ground know in advance so its ready for them.

Regards Andre

Yeah, he's changed his website, hopefully a work in progress...
