Shot sportrap at Southdown on Sunday, Shaun used the layout looking out on the fields (ABT/DTL layout) which was good to see, added a nice change. Shooting in the first position I got to 'have a go' at some interesting targets!!

Layout one: Tricky fast quartering target from the left and a quick rabbit made this a tricky first layout, plenty to catch you out if you got sloppy or didn't respect the targets, which I found out to my cost, shot a 19! Not a good start...

Layout two: Again another tricky left to right crosser, needed some respect and a very tricky orange going away target, made you think when it was presented in a sim pair with a overhead going away target! Shot 22, slight recovery but a lot of work to do now!

Layout three: Not shot this layout for a while so was good to get to shoot some targets here, 2 big incoming crows from the field, a tasty rising left to right midi made you give it each target respect, coupled with a quick trap target in the mix caught a few of us out, shot another 22, thought I was 2 light on that layout.... keep going...

Layout four: Welcome to an interesting target that I haven't seen for a well, the A bird was a standard orange clay, thrown edge on towards you, the clay then turned (battue ish) and from stand 1 needed some lead, some very clever sim pairs that needed complete confidence to shoot the right way, including the overhead going away bird from the tower AND the A bird! Shot a 24 and was very pleased to have scraped an 87!

Good all round sportrap with a lot of variety, look forward to the next one.

I shot this Sunday too,for a bit of fun. Only my second time shooting sportrap. I agree,a good mix of targets and some good testers. A variety of methods were needed to shoot it well, especially on some of the sim pairs. Was fairly pleased with an 84,but felt I was 5 targets light. 21/20/21/22.

Matt, which way did you shoot the A/E sim pair on layout 4? I literally attacked straight into the overhead, while it was still showing a bit of belly and then basically spot shot the blaze. Was pleased with nailing that pair.

That was the correct way to shoot that sim pair, someone on our squad tried to shoot the A bird first, by the time he got on to the E bird it was miles away and he missed the pair! Those type of sim pairs are all about confidence, you have to attack the first target and know you are going to nail it, gives you plenty of time to get on the second target.84 was a very good score on that course, well done.
